The Shared Regulatory Service (SRS) is a partnership between Bridgend Council, Cardiff Council and the Vale of Glamorgan Council to deliver the Environmental Health, Trading Standards and Licensing functions. The services provided include food safety, animal health and welfare, health and safety, fair trading, pollution control, and weights and measures.
SRS provides a comprehensive Pest Control Service to householders in the Vale of Glamorgan. The pest control service undertakes cost effective treatments for pests including rats, mice (inside only), bedbugs and cockroaches etc in domestic premises. We also provide reasonable and competitive costs for contracts in both domestic and commercial premises as needed.
The vacancy has arisen on a temporary (up to 24 months basis), to enhance and grow the service. As such we have created a new Pest Control Supervisor role. This post will have direct supervision of two pest control officers and will also be responsible for the establishment of new commercial contracts, as well as technical expertise as a Pest Control operative thereby boosting frontline capacity for the service to meet increasing demands

Pay Details: Grade 7, SCP 20-25: £30,296 - £ 33,945 p.a
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hours flexible working (part time/job share applications will be considered)
Main Place of Work: Vale of Glamorgan, office location and site working
Temporary Reason: 2 Year Funding
Description
For the day-to-day operational management of service delivery within the Pest Control Service including the supervision and management of staff. The main duties of the role include:
- To directly supervise and support the work of the operational staff of the Pest Control Service through the provision of guidance and advice on relevant technical and enforcement issues and to ensure delivery of a safe provision of a public health focused pest control service.
- Responsible for the coordination and discharge of daily operational duties within the team including monitoring and allocation of appointments as necessary.
- Act as the main point of contact between the Pest Control Service and business support/ C1V in relation to day-to-day service delivery/ enquires.
- Collate, communicate, and actively progress operational and administrative procedures in relation to work carried out by pest control staff.
- Responsibility in the planning, documenting and implementation of a rolling plan of proactive work for the service, including in liaison with the Team Manager, the expansion of commercial contracts/ work for the Pest Control Service.
- Assist in carrying out a full programme of pest control work when required and providing relief for when Pest Control Officers are on leave or otherwise absent.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of appropriate departmental records including all appropriate risk assessments and assistance with the care and maintenance of departmental equipment, including scheduling of vehicle maintenance etc.

You will need :
- Previous Experience as a Pest Control Supervisor /Operative
- Proven commercial pest control experience including contract management
- Appropriate and recognised Pest Control Qualification.
- A good knowledge of all pest control related legislation and relevant guidance and codes of practice.
- The ability to deal effectively with internal and external customers with a strong focus on customer care, and the ability to deal calmly and diplomatically with people.
- The ability to allocate tasks, prioritise work and ensure that work is completed satisfactorily within agreed targets.
