Full job description

Job Summary:

Ø Assist the Horticultural Supervisor in the day to day running of New Horizons Partnership Ltd. Garden Centre

Ø Customer service – in advising customers and in the selling of plants, flowers, tools and garden equipment. (stock varies).

Ø Care for all plants/shrubs/items for sale – practical work in planting, propagating, watering, weeding, harvesting and pest control

Ø Arrangement of attractive displays as directed by the Horticultural Supervisor to include involvement in themed events e.g. Halloween, Christmas etc.

Ø Keep a check on stock and report to line Manager when replenishment etc required

Ø Safe maintenance and storage of all materials, tools and equipment

Ø General maintenance of the Garden Centre site to include if necessary minor repairs etc

Ø Assist the Horticultural Supervisor develop potential outlets for sales and expansion of the service

Ø Provide learning and practical support to horticultural trainees within the grounds and off site as requested/on a daily basis

Ø Assist with the supervision of trainees during their service hours and assisting in, for example, medical or safeguarding needs with the Horticultural Supervisor

Ø Ensure safety of clients at all times

Ø Observe confidentiality at all times

Ø Familiarise with and adhere to Company Policy & Procedures

Ø Other duties which may be required within the general context of the post

Essential:

Ø Have a qualification in horticulture and a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the field and an interest in working within a horticultural environment

Ø Have experience of and a passion for working with a vulnerable client group (adults with learning disabilities) and awareness of various individual support needs

Ø Have good communication skills

Ø Be able to work as part of a Team

Ø Working on own initiative when required

Ø Highly organised, flexible and able to prioritise effectively.

Ø Car driver with full, clean license and access to a car with business insurance

Desirable:

Ø Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience of and a passion for working with a vulnerable client group (adults with learning disabilities) and awareness of various individual support needs

Ø Training in the support of adults with learning disabilities including ASD

Ø Experience of health & safety in a Garden Centre environment

Ø Have knowledge of adult safeguarding in the N.I./WHSCT context

Ø Understanding of confidentiality and adherence to Company Policies (previous employment)

Pay: £24,294.00-£25,979.00 per year
