For over 40 years, SPS has been delivering trusted property services across the UK and Europe. Through a combination of industry expertise, dedicated people and innovative technology, we provide an extensive range of property solutions to customers across multiple sectors.

Our reputation is built on reliability, quality and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Pest Control Operative / Technician to join our expanding Pest Control team, working across the Midlands and the North.

About the Role

Are you passionate about pest control, enjoy solving problems and take pride in delivering a job well done?

We are looking for a motivated individual who enjoys practical, hands-on work and wants to make a real difference to our customers.

You will be responsible for inspecting properties, identifying pest activity, carrying out appropriate treatments and recommending preventative measures to help deliver long-term solutions.

Our customers include Housing Associations, Local Authorities, Facilities Management companies and commercial organisations. You will work across a variety of properties, including residential accommodation, communal buildings and commercial premises.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business where your skills, commitment and enthusiasm will be recognised and where there are genuine opportunities to develop your career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out pest control inspections, treatments and preventative works across a range of properties.
  • Identify pest activity, investigate potential entry points and recommend effective, long-term solutions.
  • Undertake treatments for common pests, including rodents, insects and other infestations.
  • Install and maintain pest monitoring equipment and control measures.
  • Identify opportunities for proofing works and preventative maintenance to reduce recurring pest problems.
  • Complete accurate job reports, including photographs, treatment records and recommendations.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, explaining findings, treatments and any follow-up actions required.
  • Work closely with the SPS Operations team to ensure jobs are completed efficiently and customers are kept informed.
  • Follow all relevant health and safety procedures, including the safe use and storage of pest control products.
  • Take responsibility for the condition and maintenance of company equipment and vehicles.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is practical, enthusiastic, reliable and takes pride in providing an excellent service.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working within the pest control industry.
  • A Level 2 Certificate in Pest Management or equivalent qualification (desirable).
  • A good understanding of pest identification, treatment methods and preventative measures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an eye for detail.
  • A friendly, professional approach when dealing with customers.
  • The ability to work independently and manage a daily workload.
  • Good communication and basic IT skills for completing electronic job reports.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • A willingness to learn new skills and develop within the business.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone with the right attitude, a strong work ethic and a genuine commitment to customer satisfaction.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours when required to meet operational needs.

What We Offer

  • 28 days' annual leave, including Bank Holidays.
  • Company vehicle for business use during working hours.
  • Company pension contribution.
  • Full induction and ongoing training.
  • Opportunities to develop your technical skills and gain further qualifications.
  • Genuine career progression opportunities within an expanding business.
  • A supportive working environment with experienced operational and management teams.
  • The opportunity to work with a wide variety of customers and properties.

Why Join SPS?

At SPS, we believe our people are at the heart of our success.

We are not simply looking for someone to carry out pest treatments. We want people who take ownership of their work, enjoy investigating problems and are committed to finding solutions that make a lasting difference.

If you enjoy practical work, solving problems and delivering excellent customer service, we'd love to hear from you.
