Full job description
Eaton Golf Club are about to embark on an exciting year with a new irrigation system likely to be installed this coming autumn. Eaton golf club are committed to providing the greenkeeping team with the most up to date machinery to ensure the golf course stays in the prime condition it has become recognised for. As one of the last remaining private members parkland golf clubs in Norwich, Eaton Golf Club is looking to recruit a qualified greenkeeper to assist the team in maintaining the top class condition of the golf course.
As a Qualified Greenkeeper at Eaton Golf Club, you will be responsible for assisting the team in maintaining the golf course to a high standard, ensuring that the greens, fairways, tees, and other areas are in top condition for play. You will work closely with the senior greenkeeping team to deliver a consistent and exceptional level of course maintenance throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the golf course, including greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, rough and areas of ecological importance.
- Carry out mowing, aerating, topdressing, and fertilizing to improve turf health and course presentation.
- Operate and maintain a variety of greenkeeping machinery and equipment.
- Assist in the management of irrigation systems, ensuring efficient water usage.
- Monitor and control pests, diseases, and weeds using appropriate techniques and chemicals.
- Work closely with the team to ensure the course is prepared for events and daily play.
- Perform seasonal maintenance and course improvements in line with the greenkeeping schedule.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards in all aspects of greenkeeping.
- Assist with general grounds maintenance duties as required.
- Contribute to the development of the course, providing suggestions for improvements.
Essential Requirements:
- A relevant qualification in greenkeeping or horticulture (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Sports Turf Maintenance).
- Previous experience in a Greenkeeper role with a strong understanding of turf management.
- Competence in operating and maintaining greenkeeping machinery.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and their maintenance.
- A keen eye for detail and high standards of work.
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
- A passion for golf and maintaining the course to an exceptional standard.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Full UK driving license (preferred).
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in the use of pesticide and fertilizer application.
- First aid training and a commitment to health & safety best practices.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative to solve problems.
- A general knowledge of sustainability in golf course management.
