Full job description
Love pest control? So do we.
If you're the sort of person who reads labels, checks bait uptake twice and actually enjoys audit day, you might be one of us.
At Dealey, we don't just put bait boxes down and move on.
We're problem solvers. We're pest geeks. We love understanding why pests behave the way they do and finding practical solutions that stop problems coming back. We believe prevention beats treatment, innovation beats routine, and learning never stops.
For more than 70 years, Dealey has built a reputation for technical excellence, environmental responsibility and doing things properly. Today we support commercial, agricultural and industrial customers across the UK, from food manufacturers and farms to highly audited sites where standards matter.
Now we're looking for an experienced Pest Control Technician to join our team covering Essex.
If you enjoy autonomy, building relationships with customers and taking pride in delivering an outstanding service, we'd love to hear from you.
This role is probably for you if:
✓ You take pride in doing things properly.
✓ You enjoy audit day more than most people.
✓ You like learning and sharing knowledge.
✓ You want autonomy, not micromanagement.
✓ You'd rather solve problems than just treat symptoms.
The sort of work you'll be doing
No two days are the same. You'll manage your own portfolio of customers, helping them prevent, monitor and solve pest problems across a wide range of environments.
You'll:
- Carry out inspections, surveys and risk assessments.
- Deliver effective treatment and monitoring programmes.
- Look after commercial, agricultural and industrial customers.
- Support highly audited sites and ensure standards are maintained.
- Produce accurate reports and site documentation using our electronic systems.
- Advise customers on proofing and long-term prevention.
- Build relationships based on trust and excellent service.
- Manage your vehicle, equipment and stock levels.
- Spot opportunities to improve service and help develop the business.
- Participate in occasional out-of-hours and weekend work when required.
Who thrives here?
We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys pest control and wants to keep getting better.
You'll have:
- RSPH Level 2 Award in Pest Management.
- Previous experience as a Pest Control Technician.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Experience working with commercial and audited customers.
- Knowledge of BRC, M&S, FEMAS and customer specifications.
- Experience within agricultural environments.
- Strong communication and reporting skills.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A professional, customer-focused approach.
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
Bonus points if you also have:
- BPCA Registered Technician status.
- Additional pest management qualifications.
- Experience in proofing and Integrated Pest Management.
- A desire to keep learning and developing.
Why people stay
Because you'll be joining people who love what they do.
You'll be surrounded by experienced technicians and specialists who are passionate about sharing knowledge and helping each other succeed. We believe in giving people the freedom to make decisions, solve problems and develop their careers.
We live by five values:
- Hungry to Grow
- Environmental Responsibility
- Be a Geek
- Respect and Support
- Never Give Up
In return you'll receive:
- Competitive salary with overtime opportunities.
- 28 days' holiday including Bank Holidays.
- Company vehicle.
- Mobile phone and equipment.
- Ongoing training and professional development.
- Career progression opportunities.
- Support from a knowledgeable and friendly team.
- The chance to work for a business with over 70 years of technical expertise and a reputation for doing things properly.
