Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and friendly Retail Sales Assistant to join our team in a busy, fast paced Forecourt/Convenience Store. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service while ensuring the smooth operation of the site. This role involves assisting customers with fuel purchases, maintaining cleanliness, and promoting additional products and services. A strong emphasis will be placed on organisational skills and effective communication.

Hours either 8-20 or 16-38 hours per week depending how many candidates are successful. Shifts to cover opening hours Mon-Sat 6am to 10pm, Sun 7am-10pm.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers warmly and assist them with fuel purchases.
  • Operate the fuel pumps and ensure all transactions are processed accurately.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area, including forecourt and convenience store.
  • Upsell products and services to enhance customer experience.
  • Handle cash transactions, ensuring basic maths skills are applied for accuracy.
  • Respond to customer inquiries with professionalism and courtesy, demonstrating good phone etiquette.
  • Assist in stocking shelves and managing inventory levels in the shop area.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.

Qualifications

  • Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Basic maths skills for handling transactions accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Effective time management abilities to prioritise tasks during busy periods.
  • Bilingual or multilingual capabilities are advantageous.
  • Previous experience in a retail or customer service environment is preferred but not essential.
  • A friendly disposition with a willingness to engage with customers positively.
