Full job description

To be considered for this role you will need recent experience and current compounding skills from either an NHS or UK private hospital aseptic unit or from one of the main suppliers of compounded individual patient medicines to the NHS. If you do not have this, then the role is not suitable for you at this time.

Job Title: Compounding Technician

Job Purpose

The Compounding Technician is responsible for the safe, accurate and efficient preparation of pharmaceutical products, including aseptic and sterile preparations, in accordance with approved formulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), health and safety requirements and company quality standards.

The role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail and commitment to patient safety, particularly when preparing medicines for hospital, homecare and specialist clinical use.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, pharmacy, aseptic services or a controlled manufacturing environment is desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Ability to follow detailed SOPs and written instructions precisely.
  • Good numeracy and basic pharmaceutical calculations skills.
  • Understanding of GMP, aseptic technique and contamination control.
  • Ability to work accurately under time pressure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Willingness to undertake cleanroom training and competency assessments.

Pay: £22.00-£24.00 per hour
