Overview of the role

The New Propositions Manager – Private Services is responsible for identifying, shaping and developing new private healthcare service opportunities that align with strategic priorities and drive future growth.

This role leads the end-to-end proposition development process — from ideation through to go-to-market — ensuring new services are commercially viable, operationally deliverable, and customer-centric.

Working cross-functionally, the role builds a strong pipeline of opportunities, develops robust value propositions, and ensures new services are launched quickly and effectively.

Primary Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  • Identify, design and develop new Private Service propositions aligned to strategic priorities and growth ambitions
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of new service opportunities, with clear prioritisation and timelines
  • Actively seek and develop partnerships with external providers, suppliers and organisations to expand the service portfolio
  • Build networks with service suppliers and partners to unlock innovative propositions and new revenue streams
  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing services through external partnerships (e.g., ICBs and other healthcare organisations)
  • Define clear value propositions, including customer offer, commercial model and key performance indicators (KPIs) for new services
  • Ensure propositions are customer-led, differentiated and aligned with market trends and needs
  • Own and maintain governance frameworks for new service initiation, ensuring appropriate approvals, risk management and alignment to business standards
  • Be responsible for taking new service ideas to market quickly and efficiently, balancing pace with quality and compliance
  • Partner with proposition, operations, marketing, supply chain and risk teams to ensure services are viable, achievable and aligned to divisional priorities
  • Work cross-functionally across multiple service propositions simultaneously, ensuring effective coordination and delivery
  • Support and coordinate Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across different service areas to deliver proposition development and launch
  • Track adoption, engagement and early performance of new services, identifying opportunities for optimisation
  • Lead proposition enhancements based on customer feedback, store insight and performance data
  • Continuously refine and evolve services to improve customer experience, uptake and commercial performance

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Proposition Development & Innovation

  • Experience developing and launching new products or services, ideally within healthcare, retail or service environments
  • Strong ability to translate strategy into compelling, customer-focused propositions
  • Track record of identifying and developing new commercial opportunities

  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to define viable business models and success metrics
  • Experience assessing market opportunities, customer needs and competitive landscapes

  • Strong project management skills, able to take ideas from concept through to launch
  • Ability to manage multiple propositions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills

Problem Solving & Leadership

  • Proactively identifies opportunities for growth and innovation, using insight to shape new propositions
  • Balances pace and rigour, ensuring services are launched quickly while maintaining quality and compliance
  • Navigates ambiguity effectively, turning ideas into clear, actionable plans
  • Challenges thinking constructively to improve proposition design and outcomes
  • Adapts quickly to feedback and performance data, refining propositions to maximise success

About The Company

For over 70 years, we’ve been looking after the health and wellbeing of communities across the UK. Well Pharmacy (part of Bestway Healthcare) is the second largest pharmacy chain in the UK with c.760 pharmacies and a team of around 7,000 colleagues based across our Community Pharmacies, Online Pharmacy, Healthcare Services Centre, Community Drivers, Bestway Medhub & Wardles team and our Support Centre team.

Our mission is to be here for the wellbeing of our patients and customers, to provide the best community pharmacy experience in the UK for everyone, for our patients, our customers, our people, and our NHS.

The pharmacy of the future will look very different from the one we know today. It will play a huge role in transforming primary healthcare and we will play a central role in bringing it to life.

We will use our clinical expertise and technological ambition to take advantage of the potential this future has to offer us. Making medicines, advice, services and care available in the places and spaces that people need and want it most.

We want to be a great business. To be recognised as delivering a community pharmacy experience that is the best there is. To do this we want our teams to feel proud about the positive impact they make, feel valued as part of a close-knit and expert community, and feel confident in their role in a business that is stable, innovative, and caring.
