Full job description
You've spent your career in pharmacy — now help the next generation get there.
We're hiring a Trainer / Assessor to deliver and assess two pharmacy apprenticeship standards: the Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant and the Level 3 Pharmacy Technician (Integrated). Your learners will be working in community pharmacies, hospitals and other pharmacy settings across [England / region], and you'll be the person who gets them from day one through to achievement and, at Level 3, GPhC registration.
This is a hybrid role. You'll split your time between online group teaching sessions and visiting learners in their workplace settings to carry out observations, competency assessments and progress reviews. Between delivery and visits, you'll work from home.
What the role actually looks like
On teaching days, you'll plan and deliver engaging online sessions covering both standards — from dispensing procedures, pharmaceutical calculations and supply chain management at Level 2, through to the clinical governance, person-centred care, medicines optimisation and professional autonomy expected at Level 3. Your sessions need to be current, evidence-based and rooted in real pharmacy practice, not textbook theory delivered at arm's length.
On caseload days, you'll visit learners in their pharmacy settings to observe practice, assess competency against the apprenticeship standards, and provide coaching and feedback that actually moves them forward. You'll work with pharmacy managers and workplace supervisors to make sure learners are getting the right exposure and support on the job. You'll guide learners through portfolio development and preparation for End Point Assessment — and at Level 3, through the integrated assessment that leads to GPhC registration as a Pharmacy Technician.
Across both, you'll maintain accurate records, work within awarding body and GPhC regulatory requirements, and contribute to internal quality assurance and moderation activity.
What you'll need
GPhC-registered Pharmacy Technician (current registration)
CAVA (or equivalent assessor qualification: A1, TAQA, D32/D33)
AET, PTTLS, or equivalent teaching qualification
Substantial experience working in pharmacy — community, hospital, or other settings
Experience delivering or assessing pharmacy apprenticeships or qualifications
Confident delivering online via Microsoft Teams
Full UK driving licence
What would be a bonus
CET / Level 4 teaching qualification
Experience across both community and hospital pharmacy settings
Experience delivering both the Level 2 PSA and Level 3 Pharmacy Technician standards
IQA qualification (e.g. V1, IQA Award)
Experience working across funded and commercial training provision
What you'll get from us
A growing provider expanding into pharmacy — you'll be shaping how we deliver, not inheriting someone else's approach
A modern tech platform built in-house (not a clunky off-the-shelf system)
Autonomy to manage your own diary and workload
A team that shares best practice across sectors
Home working between delivery and visits
