Overview
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our Clinilabs team, as part of the Clinilabs Phlebotomist bank. The ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients, ensuring the highest standards of care and safety. This role is vital in supporting diagnostic testing and patient management within a hospital or laboratory setting. A strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is essential for success in this position.

What is a Phlebotomist bank?

A phlebotomist bank will consist of multiple phlebotomists for future opportunities for both onsite phlebotomy as well as domicile visits. You will be called as and when a shift arises, depending on your availability.

Duties

  • Perform venepuncture and phlebotomize patients with precision and care.
  • Ensure the correct identification of patients prior to sample collection.
  • Maintain aseptic technique throughout the blood collection process to prevent infection.
  • Prepare specimens for laboratory analysis, ensuring proper labelling and documentation.
  • Assist in catheterisation procedures when required, demonstrating proficiency in technique.
  • Provide support to paediatric patients, employing a gentle approach to ease anxiety during procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of all procedures performed and samples collected.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure the highest quality of patient care.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations within the hospital or laboratory environment.
  • Stay updated on advancements in phlebotomy techniques and medical practices.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Phlebotomist or in a similar role within a hospital or laboratory setting.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Familiarity with aseptic techniques and infection control practices.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients of all ages, including children.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining a calm demeanour.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts as required by the Clinilabs.
