Photographer jobs in Southampton

We are a small, founder-led marketing, PR and events agency. We need one person who shoots video and stills and edits their own work, for our clients and our shows. That is the core of the role. The brief is scoped for one person's days, not three specialists' output, and we have a set amount of work right now that fits the days offered.

You must be based in Hampshire or Surrey. We won't consider applications from outside those two counties.

Who you work with

You work directly with the founder, who briefs the shoots and signs off the edits. A small in-house team covers strategy, copy, community and client contact. We work across Hampshire, Surrey and the wider UK. Our office is currently in Guildford, moving into Hampshire soon.

The work

You'll shoot and edit video and photography for our clients and our shows.

• Live events at national consumer shows, motor shows and retail events: build days, doors opening, exhibitors and crowds, to a shot list for one camera

• Client shoots in shops, showrooms, studios and on location: the product, the people behind it and the premises

• Stills for web, social and press: products, portraits, events and spaces

• Deliverables: vertical short-form for TikTok and Reels, cuts for Facebook and LinkedIn, stills, and your selects filed where we agree

• What you shoot for us is used by us and our clients in our marketing and theirs. You can use it in your reel and portfolio, with credits where clients allow

Our own channels

A small, optional part of the week, not a social media marketing role. If you would rather stick to shooting and editing, say so and the team covers it.

• A post or two cut from footage you have already shot, plus short behind-the-scenes pieces on days you are already with us, inside hours you are paid for

• If you want to, drop your cuts into the scheduling tool with the team's captions and keep the queue tidy. Captions, replies and messages stay with the team

Hours and pay

• £20 an hour. Every hour is paid, editing included

• We are a small business with a set budget. We cannot afford the world, and we would rather say so than dress it up.

• Two days a week minimum. It will likely be more, depending on the workload and what is on at the time, and we have no issue paying for more when it is needed. Anything above the base is paid hour for hour at the same rate, including evenings and weekends at shows

• You are self-employed and free to work for other clients.

What we need from you

Where you are

• Based in Hampshire or Surrey. Applicants outside these two counties will not be considered

• A full UK driving licence and access to a car. Shoots are across Hampshire and Surrey, often at venues and times public transport cannot reach. Longer trips, overnights and out-of-area work are agreed and covered in advance.

Behind the camera

• A reel and a portfolio: video you shot and edited yourself, and photography you took

• Confident in mixed light and busy rooms, with steady footage and clean audio

• Strong stills of products, people and spaces

• Editing in DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, CapCut or similar, and Lightroom or Photoshop for stills

• Organised and reliable, with deadlines met and files where they should be

An advantage

• Your own professional videography and photography kit. A real advantage, not a condition.

• Comfortable talking to camera as well as shooting. Not essential and it will not rule anyone out, but the founder would like it, because some of our best content is people talking to camera. If you are, show us in your video

• AI skills are a plus if you already use them

• Short-form work that has performed well, with numbers you can show

• Events, automotive, motorsport, charity or retail experience

The basics

• 18 or over, because the work includes evening events and venues with age limits

• Right to work in the UK
