Full job description

Set on 110-acre site, Land’s End is one of Britain’s most loved landmarks, and is located at the westernmost point of the United Kingdom, 200ft above the Atlantic Ocean. It is famous for its unique location and beautiful scenery which attract more than 400,000 visitors a year. Cliff top trails, breath taking views, family attractions, seasonal events, a range of shopping and catering outlets along with the famous Land’s End Signpost.

Following significant investment to the signpost experience & Penwith House, we have an exciting opportunity to join our friendly & welcoming Signpost Department during our busy season over the summer.

Experience within a customer facing role &/or photography is preferred, however not essential as full training will be provided.

Relationships

a) Responsible to: Department Manager & Supervisor

b) Responsible for: No direct employees

c) Liaison with: All signpost staff, including Signpost Manager, Supervisor & Operations Manager.

Purpose of Job

The job of Signpost Experience Assistant incorporates several specific key duties, along with general areas of control on an operational basis.

Specific Duties

1. To serve the public in a polite and courteous manner & provide a high standard of experience.

2. Ensure standards of display and cleanliness are maintained.

3. Ensure the Company’s Health & Safety Policies are upheld.

4. If working in the winter season, to liaise with other Supervisors on all operational matters.

General Duties

1. Ensure all operational services are on offer at the appropriate times and to the required standard.

2. Ensure the smooth running of the Signpost Experience in general.

3. Liaise with the Line Manager to ensure staffing levels are adequate.

4. Ensure that correct codes and pricing are used.

5. Ensure the handling of cash is in line with the laid down procedures.

6. Ensure that all reasonable action is taken to secure company property in the case of theft, fire, or general damage.

7. Undertake staff training as deemed appropriate.

8. Ensure that you wear appropriate uniform to the required company standard, including PPE.

9. To co-operate with all other operational departments at Land's End. Also, to work in other units, when necessary, upon the request of your Line Manager.

10. You have the responsibility to always work safely and to report any potential hazards, faults or problems to the Signpost Manager or other management in their absence.

11. To always keep all work areas clean and tidy.

12. Undertake any other reasonable requests which may be asked of you by senior management.
