Your new role:

To support the Digital Communications team with across a range of internal, external and digital communications channels, assisting in the delivery of communications and engagement activity, in line with the council’s corporate priorities. This role will also support the delivery of key team insights (eg monitoring and evaluation) and have a relationship with the Campaign & Insights team. This is an apprenticeship role and will involve developing the required skills through structured training, mentoring and on-the-job experience. The apprentice will undertake real responsibilities from the outset, starting with supervised tasks and progressing to managing routine activities independently.

  • Support the Digital Communications team with creation of content, information and support of the council’s digital signage, and any other key internal and external channels that are developed over time
  • Learn to update core channel information, including supporting the webmaster inbox, triaging initial enquiries, escalating more complex requests to other team members and liaising with relevant content editors and other stakeholders, across the council
  • Actively support with the ongoing management of core channels, including the production of written or other visual content (eg video and photography) on the main website, Livewell, Your Say Southend and other sites
  • Support the media team and wider communications and engagement team at events and support with the arrangement of and attendance at photo calls where required
  • Provide support to the Digital Communications team by assisting with channel evaluation and co-ordination across the different contracts and processes that
What you'll need to succeed:

The successful candidate will have GCSE Maths and English Grade C/4 or equivalent, a good level of communication and customer service skills and attention to detail.
