Social Content Creator & Videographer
Location: Reading, Berkshire
Salary: £35,000–£45,000 per annum, depending on experience and portfolio
Hours: Full-time, 40-45 hours per week
About the role
We’re looking for a talented Social Content Creator & Videographer to join our creative and marketing team in Reading.
You’ll be creating content across hospitality, food, nightlife, events and new consumer brands, with a particular focus on TikTok, Instagram, paid social and short-form video, for a group of 3 venues.
We’re looking for someone who is genuinely social-native. You should understand instinctively how people consume content on TikTok and Instagram: what makes someone stop scrolling, what keeps them watching, what gets shared and how creative needs to change when the objective moves from organic reach to generating a booking, enquiry or sale.
Alongside those social instincts, you’ll need strong filming and editing skills. You should be equally comfortable creating a deliberately raw TikTok on a phone and producing beautifully shot food, drink or venue content using professional equipment.
This is not a traditional videographer position. Social comes first, but we want someone with the production ability to raise the quality of our content when the concept calls for it.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll create content primarily for TikTok and Instagram, alongside paid Meta and TikTok campaigns and YouTube Shorts.
Your work will include:
- Organic TikToks and Instagram Reels
- Paid social advertising creative
- UGC and creator-style content
- Food and drink content
- Customer reactions and POV videos
- ASMR and food preparation
- Venue, nightlife and atmosphere content
- DJs and live entertainment
- Private-hire and events content
- Behind-the-scenes content
- Talking-to-camera and voiceover creative
- Short conversion-focused ads
- Multiple hooks and edits for creative testing
- YouTube Shorts
Experience with longer-form YouTube content would be useful, but it isn’t essential.
We want someone who can get more from a shoot than one finished video. A few hours of filming should give you enough material and ideas to produce different concepts, openings and edits for different platforms and objectives.
Organic and paid social
A strong understanding of both organic and paid creative is important.
For organic content, you should understand hooks, retention, pacing, trends, creator culture, UGC, storytelling and shareability.
For paid content, you should understand how to capture attention quickly, communicate an offer or experience clearly and encourage someone to take action.
You won’t be responsible for media buying. You’ll work alongside our paid-social team, using performance data to understand which creative, hooks and formats are working and applying those learnings to future content.
We also want someone who recognises when a strong organic piece has the potential to become a paid ad.
Filming and editing
You should be confident filming and editing with both professional cameras and smartphones and capable of producing content ranging from raw, social-native video through to high-quality cinematic work.
You should have a good understanding of lighting, lenses, composition, depth of field, frame rates, slow motion, camera movement, stabilisation, audio, low-light filming, colour correction and grading.
You should know how to make food look genuinely appetising, cocktails look premium and a busy venue feel atmospheric on camera.
Experience producing cinematic food, hospitality, nightlife or lifestyle content would be particularly useful.
Editing is a significant part of the position. You should be able to produce fast, engaging short-form edits with strong pacing, captions, music and sound design, while also being capable of creating polished, cinematic edits when required.
The important thing is knowing which approach suits the content. Not everything should be cinematic, and not everything should look like it was casually filmed on a phone.
Salary
The salary range is £35,000–£45,000 per annum, depending on experience, portfolio and overall capability.
We’re open to candidates at different stages of their careers, which is why we’ve deliberately kept the range relatively broad.
£35,000–£38,000
Likely to suit a strong social-first creator with excellent TikTok and Instagram instincts, good editing skills and a strong portfolio who may still be developing their paid-social or advanced videography experience.
£39,000–£42,000
Likely to suit an accomplished all-rounder with strong organic and paid-social experience, high-level editing, good videography and confidence using AI within their creative workflow.
£43,000–£45,000
Reserved for candidates who can demonstrate most of the complete brief: exceptional social instincts, excellent editing and videography, strong organic work, proven paid creative and evidence that their content has delivered meaningful results.
Years of experience alone won’t determine where you sit within the range. The quality of your portfolio, technical ability, creative thinking and evidence of performance will carry considerably more weight.
Experience and skills
Ideally, you’ll have at least three years’ hands-on experience creating short-form social content, although we’re happy to consider candidates with less experience if the portfolio is exceptional.
We’re particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
- A strong understanding of TikTok and Instagram
- Organic social content that has performed well
- Experience producing paid-social creative
- High-quality short-form editing
- Strong filming and lighting skills
- UGC and creator-style content
- Creative ideation and concept development
- An understanding of performance data
- Confidence directing people on camera
- Practical use of AI within their creative workflowPrevious experience in food, hospitality, nightlife, entertainment, lifestyle or consumer brands would be useful but isn’t essential.
Formal qualifications are much less important to us than the quality of your work.
What you’ll work on
The role covers several businesses and concepts, so the work will be varied.
Our hospitality and entertainment businesses provide access to food, cocktails, customers, DJs, live entertainment and busy venues.
Our private-hire venue requires content that helps potential customers imagine their own parties, celebrations and corporate events in our spaces.
You’ll also be involved with new food concepts, including a visually led chicken brand being developed with social media in mind from the outset.
We see content as an important part of our growth strategy rather than simply something that needs to be posted. You’ll have access to performance data and will be able to see which content generates attention, which advertising performs and which creative contributes to enquiries, bookings and sales.
The team
You’ll work alongside our existing Content Creator and our paid-social team.
This is a specialist creative role. You won’t be joining to manage our existing creator; the two positions are intended to complement each other.
Our existing creator has a strong focus on regular organic content, trends and reactive social. We’re looking for this position to bring additional strength in paid creative, advanced filming, lighting and editing, while also being highly capable of creating organic content.
There will naturally be crossover between the roles and opportunities to work together on larger shoots and campaigns.
How to apply
Answer the 3 screener questions and provide a few sentences on why you feel, the role suits you.
If you have strong social instincts, enjoy creating short-form content and have the technical ability to turn good ideas into high-quality work, we’d be interested in hearing from you.
Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Discounted or free food
- Employee discount
- Flexitime
- Free parking
- On-site parking
- Transport links
Application question(s):
- Are you confident filming both social-native smartphone content and high-quality cinematic content using professional camera equipment?
- Briefly describe a piece of social content you created that performed particularly well. What was the hook or pattern interrupt, what result did it achieve, and why do you think it worked?
- Do you have a portfolio of TikTok and Instagram accounts? Please send links. The Role is social first.
