Artworker – Maker – Studio Operative
TP European Solutions
Working Hours: Monday 8.00am – 5.30pm, Tuesday to Friday 8.55am – 5.30pm
Full-Time, Permanent
Based in Northwich, Cheshire
Who are we?
TP European Solutions is an established supplier within the promotional merchandise and personalised gifts markets.
We are passionate about creating high-quality products for every occasion and supplying our customers with an extensive range of personalised and promotional products.
Based in Northwich, Cheshire, we operate across both the trade promotional merchandise market and the personalised gifts and e-commerce sector.
Our in-house capabilities include laser engraving, digital printing, sublimation, vinyl and transfer printing, allowing us to personalise thousands of different products from our own production facility.
We take pride in the quality of our products, our customer service and getting orders produced accurately and dispatched promptly.
We are an independent business with an ambitious approach to growth and are continually developing our products, systems and in-house production capabilities.
Where do you fit in?
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Artworker – Maker – Studio Operative to join our busy artwork and production team.
This is a varied role combining computer-based artwork preparation with hands-on product personalisation and production.
You will process customer orders and artwork, create accurate product visuals, prepare production-ready artwork and then help turn those designs into finished personalised products using our in-house production equipment.
One part of your day could involve preparing customer names, logos and artwork in Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, and the next could involve operating a laser engraver, heat press or other production equipment.
This is therefore ideal for someone who enjoys working on a Mac but also enjoys making things and seeing the finished product they have helped create.
This is not purely a graphic design position.
A significant part of the artwork work involves accurately working with existing templates, customer logos, names, messages, images and designs and preparing them correctly for production.
Accuracy is extremely important, but so is the ability to work efficiently and maintain a good level of productivity within a busy, order-driven environment.
The job entails:
- Producing accurate artwork visuals and proofs for customer orders.
- Setting up accurate, production-ready artwork for a variety of personalisation processes.
- Working with existing Adobe Illustrator artwork templates.
- Using Adobe Photoshop to edit product images, prepare customer visuals and carry out everyday image adjustments.
- Adding customer names, messages, dates, logos and other personalisation to products.
- Resizing, positioning and adjusting artwork appropriately for different products.
- Checking spelling, positioning, order information and artwork carefully before production.
- Superimposing customer artwork onto product images to create customer visuals.
- Making straightforward amendments to customer artwork and images when required.
- Processing artwork efficiently to meet daily order volumes and deadlines.
- Communicating effectively with our production and warehouse teams to coordinate and prioritise orders.
- Following production procedures and schedules.
- Completing job information and updating internal systems accurately.
- Getting hands-on and helping to produce personalised customer orders.
- Learning and operating our in-house laser engraving machines.
- Learning and assisting with our printing, sublimation, transfer, vinyl and heat-pressing processes.
- Loading, positioning and removing products from production machinery.
- Using production jigs and templates accurately.
- Quality-checking completed products against customer orders and approved artwork.
- Helping with finishing, assembly and preparation of products where required.
- Keeping your workstation and the wider studio organised, clean and efficient.
- Assisting other members of the team when priorities and workloads change.
- During particularly busy periods, assisting other departments where required, including packing customer orders and preparing goods for dispatch.
As your knowledge and experience develop, you may also become involved in creating or amending artwork templates and assisting with more complex artwork and production work.
What we want you to bring to the party:
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Speed and accuracy
- Enthusiasm
- Positivity
- Can-do attitude
- Desire to learn
- Strong work ethic
- Reliability and good timekeeping
- Ability to remain focused
- Great organisational skills
- Team-player mentality
- Ability to follow established processes
- Ability to prioritise workloads
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills
- Practical, hands-on approach
- Willingness to help wherever required
We are particularly looking for someone who takes pride in getting things right while also understanding that we operate in a fast-moving production environment where customer orders need to be completed efficiently and on time.
Preferable Skills & Experience
Ideally, you will have:
- Good working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
- Confidence using an Apple Mac.
- Previous experience within an artwork, print, personalisation or similar production environment.
- Experience preparing artwork for print or production.
- Experience editing product images and creating customer visuals.
- Good general computer skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good spelling and written English.
- Excellent time-management skills.
- The ability to prioritise your own workload and work to deadlines.
- The ability to understand and execute instructions accurately.
- The ability to work accurately at pace.
- The ability to work well under pressure.
Previous experience using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is strongly preferred.
You should be comfortable using Illustrator to prepare and amend customer artwork and Photoshop to edit product images, create customer visuals and carry out everyday image adjustments.
Experience of all our production methods is not essential, as training will be provided.
Advantageous Skills
The following would be useful but are not essential:
- Graphic design experience.
- Product photography experience.
- Previous laser engraving experience.
- Previous printing or personalised-product production experience.
- Experience creating or amending artwork templates.
What does success look like in this role?
Someone succeeding in this position will:
- Produce consistently accurate artwork.
- Maintain a good and consistent level of productivity.
- Complete work within required timescales.
- Identify and correct mistakes before products enter production.
- Produce personalised products to a high standard.
- Follow processes and instructions accurately.
- Be dependable and punctual.
- Remain focused and productive throughout the working day.
- Help colleagues when priorities or workloads change.
- Become competent across several artwork and production processes.
- Take pride in both their own workstation and the wider studio environment.
- Be willing to assist with practical tasks across the business during particularly busy periods.
Flexibility During Busy Periods
This is a varied, hands-on role and flexibility is important.
During particularly busy periods, you may be required to assist with other areas of the business, including packing customer orders, preparing products for dispatch and helping with other practical tasks required to ensure orders leave us on time.
We work as one team to ensure orders are produced accurately and dispatched promptly, so a willingness to help wherever needed is an important part of the role.
Why work for TP European Solutions / Gifts In A Jiffy?
You will be joining an established independent company with extensive in-house production capabilities and the opportunity to learn a broad range of artwork and product-personalisation skills.
This is a particularly varied role for someone who enjoys both computer-based work and physically creating products.
Rather than spending the whole day carrying out one task, you can be involved in the complete process — from receiving the customer's personalisation, preparing the artwork and creating the visual through to producing, quality-checking and seeing the finished product.
If you would like to become part of our team, please submit your CV. We would love to hear from you.
