Arcade Specialist / Refurbishment Engineer
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Base Location: Smethwick
Role: Warehouse Based with Occasional UK Travel
Salary: Starting From 30k-35k
Driving Licence: Essential
About the Role
We are looking for a practical, technically minded Arcade Specialist / Refurbishment Engineer to join our growing team in Smethwick.
The main focus of this role will be refurbishing, repairing and preparing arcade machines in our warehouse so they are ready to be installed at customer venues across the UK.
You will work on a wide variety of arcade and amusement equipment, diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, replacing components, testing machines and making sure every machine is fully operational and presentable before it leaves the warehouse.
From time to time, you will also travel to customer sites to assist with new machine installations, repairs and preventative maintenance. This means the role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with arcade machines in the workshop but is also comfortable getting out on the road when required.
No two machines are necessarily the same, so we are looking for someone who enjoys fault finding, fixing problems and understanding how mechanical, electrical and electronic systems work.
Previous arcade industry experience would be highly advantageous, but we are also interested in people with strong hands-on engineering, electrical, mechanical, vending, gaming or machinery repair experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesArcade Refurbishment & Preparation
- Refurbish and restore used arcade machines ready for installation at customer venues.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.
- Strip down, clean, repair and rebuild arcade machines where required.
- Replace faulty or worn components.

- Trace wiring faults and carry out wiring repairs.
- Test and configure arcade machine electronics and control systems.
- Carry out basic soldering and component repairs.
- Repair and maintain coin mechanisms and card payment systems.
- Check machine communications, wiring and power systems.
- Carry out mechanical repairs, adjustments and modifications.
- Make sure machines are safe, reliable and ready for use before leaving the warehouse.
- Carry out final testing and quality checks on refurbished machines.
- Prepare new arcade machines for deployment and installation.
- Assist with modifications, upgrades and improvements to machines where required.
- Keep accurate records of repairs, faults and parts used.
- Identify recurring faults and suggest improvements to machine reliability.
New Machine Preparation
You will also be responsible for preparing new arcade machines before they are sent to customer sites, including:
- Unpacking and inspecting new machines.
- Assembling machines and components where required.
- Installing and configuring payment systems.
- Connecting and testing electrical and electronic components.
- Carrying out software or configuration checks where required.
- Testing machines thoroughly before dispatch.
- Ensuring machines are clean, complete and installation-ready.
Occasional Site Work
Although the majority of the role will be warehouse based, you will occasionally travel to customer venues across the UK to:
- Assist with the installation of new arcade machines.
- Carry out repairs and fault finding on machines already on site.
- Perform preventative maintenance.
- Replace faulty components on site.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical and electronic faults.
- Relocate or remove arcade machines when required.
- Test machines following repairs or installation.
- Communicate professionally with venue managers and customers.
- Escalate more complex technical issues when required.
Occasional overnight stays may be required depending on the location and nature of the work.
Machines You Could Be Working On
You could be working across a wide variety of arcade and amusement equipment, including:
- Basketball machines
- Air hockey tables
- Pool tables
- Racing arcade machines
- Shooting games
- Dance machines
- Punch machines
- Interactive darts
- Redemption and amusement machines
- Coin-operated arcade machines
- Card payment systems
- Other electromechanical entertainment equipment
We are particularly interested in someone who has a genuine interest in arcade machines and how they work.
