Pro rata of £26,045 - £26,141 per annum (i.e. £20,638.36 - £20,714.43)

Are you passionate about the creative industries and looking for an opportunity to support the next generation of artists, designers, photographers and filmmakers?

Worthing College is seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Visual Arts and Media Technician to join our vibrant and highly successful Visual Arts and Media department. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a wide range of specialist creative disciplines including Fine Art, Textiles, Graphic Communication, Photography, Film and Media.

As our Visual Arts and Media Technician, you will play a key role in supporting both staff and students across the department. Duties will include preparing materials and specialist equipment for lessons, maintaining studios and learning environments, supporting health and safety procedures, assisting with displays and exhibitions, and helping to ensure that students have access to high-quality technical support throughout their studies.

The role will also involve supporting both digital and traditional photography processes, including the maintenance and preparation of photography studios, cameras, lighting equipment, and darkroom facilities. Experience of photography equipment or darkroom practice would therefore be beneficial, although training and support can be provided.

We are keen to hear from applicants from a range of creative backgrounds. You may already have experience in one or more of our curriculum areas, and we recognise that no candidate is likely to have expertise across every discipline. We are committed to supporting professional development and upskilling within the role, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to broaden their technical knowledge and experience across the creative arts sector.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Experience or knowledge within one or more creative disciplines such as Art, Textiles, Photography, Graphic Design, Film or Media
  • Organisational skills and the ability to manage equipment and resources effectively
  • An understanding of health and safety practices within practical learning environments
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A positive and flexible approach, with a willingness to learn new skills and processes

Our Staff Benefits:

We have a fantastic range of staff benefits, highly competitive against what is offered by the private sector and other organisations, including:

  • Local Government Pension Scheme - the Group contributes 20.4% of your actual pensionable pay.
  • Discount schemes - including discounts on shopping, restaurants, travel and onsite facilities such as our gym and First Steps Childcare nurseries (specific campuses only).
  • Family friendly policies - including enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption pay (dependent on continuous service).
  • Continuous professional development opportunities - including development days, funded apprenticeships and access to a range of other courses and activities.
  • And much more - check out the Staff Benefits booklet attached to this advert for more information about our fantastic range of benefits available to staff.

Set in a fantastic 18-acre parkland campus, Worthing College provides a friendly and supportive environment that fosters personal growth and collaboration, to change lives through learning.

Working in a vibrant and inclusive further education college is an inspiring experience. Our staff have a relentless focus on delivering outstanding teaching, learning and support, where you'll encounter a diverse student body, a positive atmosphere, innovative teaching methods, and a celebration of individual differences. It’s an environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, and professional growth.

We actively encourage applications from those seeking part-time roles, job shares, or flexible working arrangements.
