Full job description

We’re on the lookout for a Social Media Manager who will play a key role in planning, creating and delivering engaging and inspiring social media content for Sherbet Donkey and our clients.

The main focus of the role will be organic social media, from developing content ideas and social strategies to creating, scheduling and managing content across platforms including Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.

Alongside organic social, you’ll also own the paid social activity for selected clients, managing campaigns from initial research and setup through to optimisation, testing and reporting across platforms such as Meta and LinkedIn.

The role will work across a range of projects for our clients, so no two days will be the same. We’re looking for someone who is creative, proactive and commercially minded, with a genuine passion for social media and digital marketing, as well as an interest in using data and insights to understand what works and improve results.

You’ll work closely with Account Managers, clients and other internal teams, so the ability to build strong working relationships and manage multiple projects effectively is essential.

The ideal candidate will be a motivated individual with bags of initiative who enjoys coming up with creative ideas, producing high-quality content and seeing the tangible results of their work. The role would suit a social media or digital marketer looking for a varied challenge or someone looking to take the next step in their career. There will be opportunities to develop your existing skills and learn new ones.

Key Responsibilities

Organic Social Media

  • Manage social media accounts for Sherbet Donkey and our clients, including planning, creating, scheduling and publishing engaging content across Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Develop social media strategies and content plans, using audience insights, industry trends and client objectives to inform activity.
  • Create a range of social content including copy, graphics, photography and video, while monitoring performance and identifying opportunities to improve results.
  • Monitor social media performance and key metrics, using insights to identify what’s working and inform future content and strategy.

Paid Social

  • Take ownership of paid social campaigns for selected clients across Meta and LinkedIn, from setup and targeting through to optimisation and reporting.
  • Manage campaign budgets, creative testing and audience targeting to deliver against client objectives.
  • Monitor campaign performance and use data and insights to continually improve results.

Social Media Development & Management

  • Develop and continually improve Sherbet Donkey’s paid and organic social media offering, including processes, standards, quality control and reporting.
  • Support new-business activity through pitches, proposals and social media audits, identifying opportunities to showcase and grow our social media offering.
  • Ensure social media work is delivered efficiently, profitably and within agreed client budgets.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, Account Managers and internal teams, while managing multiple accounts and projects to a high standard.
  • Help recruit, train and manage future members of the social media team as the department grows.

Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience managing social media accounts across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Experience developing and delivering organic social media strategies and content plans.
  • Strong copywriting and content creation skills.
  • Experience creating social media graphics using Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud or similar.
  • Experience using Meta Business Suite to manage and monitor social media activity.
  • Experience managing paid social campaigns, ideally through Meta Ads Manager and/or LinkedIn Campaign Manager.
  • Good understanding of social media analytics, performance metrics and reporting.
  • Strong creative skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • A proactive approach, with plenty of initiative and a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent proofreading and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple projects and deliver work on time and within budget.

Desirable

  • Experience with audience targeting, segmentation and A/B testing.
  • Understanding of paid social metrics including CPC, CPM, CPA, CTR and ROAS.
