Full job description

About the Project

We are launching Dungeon Shopkeeper, a humorous fantasy board game, on Kickstarter in March 2027.

We need a creative, self-motivated digital marketer and content creator to lead our audience building efforts. Our clear mission over the next 6 months is to turn curiosity into an active, highly engaged community of 5,000+ subscribers and followers ready to back us on day one of our launch.

The Role

This is a flexible, 2 days per week contract ideal for a local freelancer who wants creative freedom, hands-on strategic input, and the opportunity to help launch a major game project from the ground up.

You won't just be executing someone else's plan, you will help define our channel strategy, run playtest content sessions in our Hove space, and build a passionate fanbase.

Because this role requires weekly hands-on content capture in our Hove office and attendance at local promotional events, candidates must be based within a reasonable, reliable commuting distance of Hove, East Sussex.

Key Responsibilities

  • Channel Strategy & Growth: Work with us to identify and double-down on the highest-converting channels for tabletop gaming (TikTok, Instagram, Discord, Reddit, or BoardGameGeek).
  • On-Site Content Capture: Spend roughly half a day a week with us in Hove capturing prototypes, artwork, playtesting sessions, and behind-the-scenes footage.
  • Content Creation Turn raw footage and lore into short-form video (Reels/TikToks), eye-catching posts, and updates that build anticipation for the mechanics and world of Dungeon Shopkeeper.
  • Subscriber Communication: Manage our email newsletter updates and community channels to keep early fans engaged through to launch day.
  • Launch Hype: Track subscriber growth against our 5,000-follower goal, analysing what content converts best into email sign-ups.
  • Live Event Coverage: If viable, join the team at promotional events, conventions, or public playtests to capture on-the-ground hype, interview players, and create live content. (Hours for these events can be flexed as part of your 2-day workweek).

Who We Are Looking For

  • Local to Hove / Brighton: Able to visit our Hove location weekly for content sessions and team syncs.
  • A Native Content Creator: Skilled with smartphone photography/videography, CapCut, Canva, or Adobe Suite to produce polished, organic short-form video.
  • Initiative & Curiosity: You don't wait to be told what to post. You test ideas, study successful tabletop crowdfunding campaigns, and pitch fresh concepts.
  • Community-Minded: You understand how to talk to gamers and fantasy fans in a natural, authentic voice (an interest in board games, TTRPGs, or fantasy is a huge bonus!).

What We Offer

  • Competitive Rate: £150 - £180 per day depending on experience.
  • Flexibility: Work 1.5 days remotely from home or local co-working spaces, fitting hours around your existing roster.
  • Creative Ownership: Massive freedom to experiment, drive the strategy, and build a portfolio-defining campaign.
  • Long-Term Prospects: If DSK is the hit we expect it to be, this role will transition into an ongoing, expanded contract post-launch.

How to Apply

  • Your Portfolio / Work Examples: Links to 2-3 social accounts or campaigns you’ve developed / worked on (particularly short-form video or community building).
  • One Quick Idea: 2 - 3 sentences on a creative angle or content idea you’d test to get people excited about a game called Dungeon Shopkeeper.
  • Your Availability & Rate: Confirming you can commit to 2 days/week starting late Sept/early Oct.
  • To prove you are local and read this ad, please include the answer to this question in your email: What is your favourite coffee shop or pub in Brighton/Hove, and why?
