Reports to: Member Engagement Manager

Working Pattern: Office based during probation. After successful probation, home working will be available for up to two days per week, subject to business and role requirements.

The opportunity

We are looking for a creative, proactive and highly adaptable Social Media & Content Creator Executive to lead day-to-day content for British Wool’s farmer communication channels. The primary focus will be engaging our farming members through relevant, timely and engaging digital content. You will also support our Digital & Communications Manager with selected consumer-facing content and campaigns.

This is a varied, hands-on role where priorities can change quickly. You could be creating content at a farm, depot or show one day and planning campaigns, editing video or reviewing performance the next. You will need excellent communication skills, initiative and the ability to manage several projects and deadlines at once, while remaining flexible around travel, events and occasions.

What you do

• Take day-to-day responsibility for British Wool’s farmer social media channels, including British Wool Farm and Ulster Wool, creating content that supports member engagement and communication.
• Plan, create, film, photograph, edit, schedule and publish member-focused content across social and digital channels.
• Find and tell real life stories from farmers, depots, shearing teams, events and the wider wool industry.
• Maintain a content calendar and confidently manage changing priorities, multiple projects and deadlines.
• Support Graze, member website updates and member-focused digital campaigns using platforms such as Mailchimp and WordPress.
• Monitor member engagement and digital performance, respond appropriately to enquiries and use insight to improve future content.
• Support the Digital & Communications Manager with agreed consumer-facing content, campaign activity and digital assets.
• Attend farms, depots, shows, auctions and other events across the UK to capture member and industry content, which may occasionally require working outside normal office hours.

What we are looking for

• Demonstrate experience managing social media and creating high-quality content for a business, brand or organisation, supported with examples of your work.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong copywriting and the confidence to engage and interview a wide range of people.
• Strong practical content-creation skills including short-form video, photography and graphics, with experience of relevant editing/design tools.
• Experience of social platforms including Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, together with social scheduling and reporting tools such as Sprout Social or equivalent.
• Highly organised and able to prioritise effectively, manage competing demands and adapt quickly when plans change.
• Proactive, flexible and self-motivated, with the initiative to identify stories and content opportunities rather than waiting to be directed.
• Good judgement when managing online engagement and sensitive or reputational issues.
• Ability to understand digital analytics and use results to recommend improvements.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly.

Desirable

• A relevant qualification in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Media, Content Creation or a related subject, or professional experience will also be considered.
• Experience of Mailchimp, WordPress, Meta Business Suite, Canva/Adobe tools,
• Experience within agriculture, rural affairs, membership organisation’s or another stakeholder-led environment.
