Company Overview

Podium Place is a specialty coffee and motoring café in Newbury, bringing together cars, coffee and a growing community of enthusiasts. We have been established for several years and already have a regular rotation of events, an active online following, and a strong in-person community.

Alongside the café, Podium has a Sim Lounge and an alcohol licence, making it a great space for motoring meets, private events, evening events and other community activities.

We are looking for an organised, proactive and customer-focused Events & Marketing Manager to take ownership of the marketing and management for our Podium events.

A successful candidate will have some sales or marketing experience and have an interest in cars.

Events

A big part of the role would be building relationships with motoring clubs and attracting them to use Podium for their regular meets and events. You would work with the wider Podium team to put together suitable offerings, then reach out to potential organisers by email, telephone and social media to gain bookings.

Our aim is to have motoring meets taking place at Podium every weekend, alongside occasional weekday evening events and other activities. Once an event is booked, you would help organise the practical side and coordinate with the organiser and Podium team to make sure everything runs smoothly.

This is a hands-on, in-person, and customer-facing role. Outside of what would be normal weekday admin work hours, you must be open to hosting events on most weekends and have some flexibility for occasional evenings.

Marketing

You would manage most of Podium's social media and marketing, particularly Instagram and our regular newsletter. The focus would be on keeping people up to date with what is happening at Podium and helping to maintain our community.

This would include posting upcoming events, creating graphics using Canva for Instagram and in-person advertising, and updating the Podium website each month with the upcoming events calendar using Shopify.

Some basic photography and content creation would be part of the role, particularly at events.

Members, Tours & Administration

Alongside the events and marketing side of the role, you would provide administrative support across Podium's events, members' club and occasional Podium Tours.

This would involve keeping bookings, customer and member information organised, managing ticketing and billing, maintaining relevant records, and dealing with paperwork relating to areas such as insurance, accounting and other administrative or compliance requirements.

Podium Tours are our larger-scale, multi-night driving events that we run a couple of times each year. You would not be responsible for planning these events as this is handled by our Tour Director, but you would provide administrative and marketing support where needed, along with some practical help with things such as goodie bags and snacks for participants.

There would occasionally be other general administrative tasks across the business that are not covered by the Café Manager or Operations Manager.

Experience & Skills

  • Some level of existing enthusiasm for motor vehicles.
  • Motivated, organised, creative and happy to get involved.
  • Comfortable meeting new people, building relationships and adapting to different tasks.
  • Comfortable communicating with customers, clubs, members and other contacts by email and telephone.
  • Comfortable handling administrative paperwork and keeping information organised.
  • Comfortable using social media, with an interest in learning or developing skills in tools such as Canva and Shopify.
  • Previous experience in events, hospitality, customer service, social media or marketing would be useful, but is not essential.
  • Available for most weekends and occasional evening events.

For this role, attitude, commitment, creativity and a willingness to learn are just as important as previous experience.

Why join Podium?

Podium already has a strong brand, an established community and a lot of opportunities to build on.

There is already plenty happening at Podium, and we are looking for someone who can help keep it organised, bring new clubs and people into the community, and play a part in developing what comes next.

The right person would have the opportunity to take real ownership of this area of the business. As Podium continues to develop, there would be opportunities to take on more responsibility and play a meaningful part in its future.
