About Gumbies

Gumbies is an independent footwear and lifestyle brand with a love for the outdoors, creativity and doing things a little differently.

We're a small, hands-on team, which means everyone gets involved and has the opportunity to make a real contribution. We're looking for a Creative & Content Designer to take ownership of creating engaging visual content across our digital channels and help us develop how Gumbies communicates with different customers and markets.

The Role

This is first and foremost a hands-on creative production role.

A large part of your week will be spent creating the digital assets we need to keep Gumbies looking fresh and consistent across paid advertising, social media, email and our websites.

We're looking for someone who enjoys actually making things – designing, creating content, editing imagery, working with photography and turning ideas and briefs into finished creative.

Alongside the day-to-day work, you'll have the opportunity to bring your own ideas to the table, think about how we communicate with different audiences and contribute to wider creative projects across the business.

There will also be opportunities to get involved in product development, photography, new ranges and campaigns as they arise, although digital creative and content will remain the core focus of the role.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Creating digital assets for Meta and other paid advertising campaigns.
  • Designing content for social media across multiple formats.
  • Creating email marketing graphics and campaign assets.
  • Producing banners, graphics and visual content for our websites.
  • Developing creative concepts for campaigns, product launches and seasonal activity.
  • Creating and adapting content for different customer profiles, products and markets.
  • Using sales performance, customer insights and competitor activity to help inform creative ideas.
  • Shooting and editing product and lifestyle photography.
  • Retouching, resizing and preparing imagery for different digital channels.
  • Helping maintain a consistent visual identity across Gumbies' creative output.
  • Working closely with our digital marketing activity to understand which creative performs and using that learning to develop future content.
  • Contributing ideas rather than simply waiting for briefs.
  • Getting involved in product design and development when opportunities arise.
  • Supporting packaging, print and other creative projects across the business.

As a small team, there will inevitably be other creative jobs and projects that come along too – being happy to get stuck in is part of the role.

Who We're Looking For

You'll ideally have at least 2 years' experience in a graphic design, digital design, content or similar creative role.

We're looking for someone with a strong eye for design, but equally important is someone who understands that good commercial creative needs to connect with an audience and achieve something.

You'll be comfortable taking a brief and delivering it, but you'll also be confident bringing your own ideas and suggestions to the table.

You'll ideally have:

  • Strong graphic and digital design skills.
  • Experience creating assets for social media and digital advertising.
  • A good understanding of designing for Meta/Instagram/Facebook.
  • Experience creating content for websites and email.
  • Strong Adobe Creative Suite skills.
  • Photography and image-editing experience.
  • An understanding of designing for different customer audiences.
  • Good attention to detail and brand consistency.
  • The ability to manage several creative requirements and deadlines.
  • A commercial mindset – an interest in understanding why one piece of creative performs better than another.
  • Confidence working independently as well as collaborating with a small team.

Experience with video, reels/motion content, e-commerce, Shopify or product design would be a bonus, but isn't essential.

The Creative Side

While digital content is the core of the role, we don't want someone who simply sits and churns out assets.

We want you to be curious.

Who are we trying to reach? What does that customer respond to? How could we present this product differently? What's working in our advertising? What are other brands doing well? What could Gumbies do better?

You'll have the opportunity to use customer profiles, sales information, competitor brands and campaign performance to help develop creative ideas and make our content more effective.

Working at Gumbies

We're a small team, so this isn't the kind of role where you'll disappear into a large creative department.

You'll work closely with the people running the business and have the opportunity to see your work go from an idea to something our customers are actually seeing very quickly.

Please send us your CV and portfolio, along with a short introduction telling us a little about yourself and why you think you'd be a good fit for Gumbies.

We'd particularly like to see examples of digital advertising, social content, campaign creative, photography and e-commerce work in your portfolio.

Pay: £32,000.00-£35,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Casual dress
  • Company pension
  • Free parking
  • On-site parking
