Full job description

Physical Education & Wellbeing Teacher (QTS)

KS2–Adult | PE Curriculum | RQF Level 1–3 Sports Science
Overworld AMP – Independent SEN Provision | Farnham / Aldershot

Salary: £34,000 per year, with annual progression in line with standard teacher pay advancement.

Overworld AMP is seeking a Physical Education & Wellbeing Teacher (QTS) who brings energy, robustness and a genuine passion for helping neurodivergent young people build confidence, physical literacy and lifelong wellbeing habits. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys strength training, movement coaching, outdoor activity, and the therapeutic side of physical development — and who wants to see real, meaningful progress in SEN learners.

This is a curriculum‑focused role, not a traditional teaching‑heavy post. You will lead the PE, Wellbeing and Sports Science curriculum from KS2 through to young adults, including RQF Level 1–3 Sports Science pathways. You’ll design accessible, stage‑not‑age programmes that blend physical activity, strength and conditioning, functional movement, nutrition, emotional regulation and outdoor learning.

You will also deliver 1:1, paired and small‑group sessions, adapting pace, intensity and structure to meet the sensory, emotional and developmental needs of autistic, ADHD, PDA and SEMH learners. A key part of the role is training and supporting Support Workers, ensuring they feel confident delivering movement‑based tasks and wellbeing activities as part of daily provision.

If you’re someone who thrives on movement, connection, creativity and initiative — and you want to make a real difference to young people who need consistency and relational practice — this role will suit you perfectly.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading the PE, Wellbeing and Sports Science curriculum across KS2–Adult
  • Designing stage‑not‑age pathways for:
  • PE and physical literacy
  • Strength and conditioning
  • Functional movement and coordination
  • RQF Level 1–3 Sports Science units
  • Outdoor learning and therapeutic movement
  • Delivering 1:1, paired and small‑group sessions tailored to SEN needs
  • Embedding wellbeing, regulation and physical confidence into daily routines
  • Training and supporting Support Workers to deliver movement‑based activities
  • Creating accessible micro‑tasks and flexible learning routes
  • Overseeing assessment, evidence capture and internal verification
  • Working collaboratively with Care Leads to ensure emotional and sensory safety underpin all physical activity
  • Taking initiative in planning, adapting and responding to learners’ needs in real time

What we’re looking for

  • QTS (required)
  • Experience teaching PE, Sports Science or physical wellbeing
  • Confidence delivering KS2–KS4 PE and Level 1–3 vocational sports pathways
  • Interest or background in:
  • Strength training / gym‑based movement
  • Personal training or coaching
  • Nutrition, health and wellbeing
  • Therapeutic or regulation‑based movement
  • Robust, energetic and confident working with neurodivergent learners
  • Someone who takes initiative, adapts quickly and enjoys active, hands‑on work
  • An interest in outdoor learning, adventure activities or movement‑based therapy is a real advantage

Who can apply

We welcome applications from QTS‑qualified teachers who are newly qualified and who bring some industry or specialist background in this subject area. Teachers who may be early in their classroom career but have relevant practical experience, emerging expertise or professional qualifications in the field are encouraged to apply. You will receive full supervision, curriculum guidance and ongoing support from the Head of Education to ensure confidence, consistency and high‑quality delivery.

Teamwork, Inclusion & Safeguarding

We are a collaborative, reflective team where no one works in isolation. Shared planning, open communication and mutual support are central to our practice.
We warmly welcome applications from neurodivergent candidates and those from diverse backgrounds, identities and lived experiences.
Overworld AMP is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All roles require an enhanced DBS check and ongoing safeguarding training.
