About Sintela

Sintela is a global leader in Distributed Fiber Optic Sensing (DFOS) and Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) technology. Our ONYX™ systems are used worldwide across border security, rail, mining, pipelines, subsea infrastructure, and critical national infrastructure projects. We design and build industry-leading sensing systems that are easy to deploy, highly reliable, and trusted in real-world environments.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for an enthusiastic Graduate Field Engineer to join our team in Poundbury, Dorset. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate to begin a career working with advanced sensing technology on projects around the world.

The Role

As a Graduate Field Engineer, you will work closely with experienced engineers and software specialists to support the installation, commissioning, testing, and operation of Sintela systems. You will gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge fiber optic sensing technology and have the opportunity to travel internationally to support customer deployments and trials.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem solving, technology, field-based work, and learning in a fast-paced engineering environment.

The role is based in our office in Poundbury, Dorset and will include international travel to other offices and client sites as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of field installations and customer trials
  • Support commissioning and testing of Sintela ONYX™ systems
  • Work with engineers and customers to analyse sensing data and system performance
  • Help configure and optimise detection software and algorithms
  • Participate in customer demonstrations and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs)
  • Carry out quality checks on recorded sensing data
  • Support troubleshooting and technical investigations
  • Build strong working relationships with customers and project partners
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of installation and operational procedures

What We’re Looking For

  • A recent graduate with a degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Geophysics, Electronics, Data Science, or a related STEM discipline
  • Strong interest in technology, sensing systems, or signal processing
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally when required
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude
  • Full UK driving licence preferred

Desirable Skills (Not Essential)

  • Knowledge of fiber optics, acoustics, or sensing technologies
  • Experience with Python, MATLAB, or data analysis tools
  • Understanding of signal processing concepts
  • Experience working on technical projects or placements
