Academe Tuition is looking for enthusiastic, knowledgeable and reliable tutors to join our growing team at our modern tuition centre in Prescot.

We are particularly interested in hearing from tutors who can confidently support students in the core GCSE subjects of English, Maths and Science, as well as Primary and Key Stage 2 tutors and those with wider educational specialisms.

You do not necessarily need to be a qualified teacher. We welcome applications from experienced tutors, teachers, graduates, subject specialists and education professionals who have excellent subject knowledge and, most importantly, know how to communicate that knowledge effectively to young people.

About the role

Our tutors work with children and young people across a range of ages and abilities, providing engaging, supportive and purposeful tuition designed around the needs of each student.

Depending on your experience and subject specialism, you may work with students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.

We are currently looking for tutors across:

• GCSE English Language and Literature
• GCSE Mathematics
• GCSE Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Combined Science
• Primary English and Maths
• KS2 and SATs preparation
• 11+ and entrance examination preparation
• General academic support
• Exam technique, revision and confidence building
• Additional educational needs and specialist support

We are also keen to hear from applicants with other subject or educational specialisms, even if these are not listed above.

What we are looking for

Above all, we are looking for people who genuinely enjoy working with young people and can make learning accessible, engaging and confidence-building.

Successful applicants will ideally have:

• Strong knowledge of their chosen subject or educational area
• Experience of tutoring, teaching, mentoring or working with young people
• The ability to explain concepts clearly and adapt their approach to different students
• An understanding of the relevant curriculum and examination requirements, where applicable
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Patience, reliability and professionalism
• The confidence to work independently while contributing to a wider team

Qualified Teacher Status is not essential.

We recognise that excellent tutors come from a range of professional and academic backgrounds. If you have strong subject knowledge and the ability to engage and inspire young people, we would be very happy to hear from you.

Working at Academe

At Academe, we believe effective tuition is about much more than completing worksheets or helping with homework. We want students to understand what they are learning, develop confidence in their own ability and make genuine academic progress.

Our tutors have the freedom to use their own expertise and teaching style, while having access to the resources, facilities and support they need.

Hours are predominantly after school, during evenings and at weekends, with flexibility depending on your availability and the needs of our students.

Positions are offered on a self-employed basis at £20 per hour.
