Full job description

Music Tutors – Piano, Guitar, Drums & Multi-Instrumentalists

Ballymena School of Music – Ballymena
£14–£16 per hour | Part-time | In person

Ballymena School of Music is looking for enthusiastic, reliable musicians to join our growing teaching team.

We’re currently looking for tutors across Piano, Guitar, Drums and other instruments, as well as multi-instrumentalists who may be able to provide regular teaching and cover across more than one instrument.

We have opportunities for both experienced music tutors and musicians who are interested in developing their teaching skills with training and mentoring from our team.

About the Role

You’ll teach children, teenagers and adults across a range of ages and abilities, from complete beginners through to more experienced students.

Opportunities may include:

  • Regular weekly teaching
  • Cover teaching
  • Teaching across more than one instrument
  • Building up additional teaching hours as demand grows
  • Training and mentoring for those newer to teaching

Our current availability includes Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with additional teaching and cover opportunities available across the week.

What We're Looking For

We'd love to hear from you if you:

  • Have a strong playing ability on your instrument(s)
  • Are friendly, enthusiastic and reliable
  • Enjoy working with children and young people
  • Have good communication and people skills
  • Can commit reliably to agreed teaching times
  • Are passionate about music and helping others learn

Previous teaching experience is desirable but not essential. Training and ongoing support can be provided for the right person.

Music qualifications are welcomed, but we’re also happy to consider applicants with equivalent practical or professional playing experience.

Successful applicants will be required to complete the appropriate AccessNI and safeguarding checks before teaching independently.

Pay & Hours

£14–£16 per hour, depending on experience and role.

Our mentored/trainee tutor rate starts at £14 per hour, with experienced tutor rates from £15+ per hour.

Hours are part-time and will vary depending on instrument, availability and student demand, with opportunities to build additional hours.

About Us

Ballymena School of Music is an established music school providing instrumental and vocal tuition to children and adults in a friendly, supportive environment.

We want our tutors to enjoy teaching, develop their skills and feel part of a wider music team rather than simply turning up, teaching and going home.

This is an in-person position in Ballymena, Northern Ireland. Applicants must live within reasonable travelling distance of Ballymena and be able to reliably attend their agreed teaching days.

If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.

Please apply with your CV and include the instrument(s) you teach/play, relevant experience and your current availability.

Pay: £14.00-£16.00 per hour
