Contract: Full-time, self-employed CIS subcontractor

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced, reliable and versatile general builder to work with us on a self-employed CIS basis.

The work is varied: damp proofing and remedial works, structural repairs, garage conversions and property maintenance across Flintshire, Chester, Wrexham and the surrounding areas.

You don’t need to be a specialist in every trade. You do need strong general building experience, confidence across a range of tasks, and work that is consistently tidy and professional.

Full-time, long-term work is available for the right person.

Typical work

  • Garage conversions
  • Structural alterations and repairs, built to the engineer’s details
  • Lintel installation and replacement
  • Damp proofing and associated remedial works, including making good and re-plastering
  • Timber stud walls and internal partitions
  • Insulation and plasterboard
  • First-fix and second-fix joinery
  • Brick and masonry repairs
  • Plastering and rendering repairs
  • Concrete and floor repairs
  • General internal and external building repairs
  • Basic plumbing: taps, wastes, traps and sanitaryware, minor pipework alterations and straightforward leak repairs
  • Connecting kitchen and utility appliances (non-gas only)
  • Working alongside other trades on our projects
  • Keeping every working area clean, safe and organised

What we need from you

  • 10+ years’ experience as a general builder
  • Competent in timber studwork, plasterboarding, skirting and architraves
  • Capable of garage conversions and general building work
  • Basic plumbing knowledge and practical experience
  • Damp proofing experience is an advantage, not essential
  • Work to a consistently high standard
  • Reliable, punctual and professional
  • Able to work independently and alongside others
  • Follow site health and safety requirements
  • Respectful when working in customers’ homes and commercial premises
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Registered, or willing to register, under CIS
  • Your own hand tools and power tools

Pay and terms

  • £16.00–£20.00 per hour, depending on experience and ability
  • Full-time, approximately 40 hours a week
  • Weekly CIS payments against your weekly invoice
  • Covered under our company insurance while working on our projects
  • Van and fuel card provided for the right person
  • Varied local projects

Working area

Most projects are across North Wales, Cheshire and Wirral, mainly Flintshire, Chester and Wrexham. Applicants should live within a reasonable travelling distance of Flintshire.

Pay: £16.00-£20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week

Work Location: In person
