Full job description
Skilled Tradesperson for Historic Building Repair and Conservation
Heritage Roofing Southwest Ltd is looking for a practical, skilled tradesperson to join our team working on historic and traditional buildings.
We welcome applicants with experience in carpentry, masonry, roofing, leadwork or plastering. You do not need to cover every trade. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, brings sound practical skills and is willing to learn.
An understanding of traditional materials and methods, including lime mortars, historic timber, natural slate and lead, would be a bonus. Equally valuable is a thoughtful approach, understanding how an old building works, respecting its original fabric and knowing when to ask before proceeding.
The work
Our projects involve the repair and conservation of historic buildings, with varied work that rewards care, patience and attention to detail. You will work alongside a team that values craftsmanship and invests in training and professional development.
What we are looking for
Relevant practical experience in at least one of the trades listed above.
Reliability and a commitment to quality.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A respectful, professional manner with clients and colleagues.
Your own vehicle and the ability to travel to our sites.
Relevant trade qualifications are welcomed.
What we offer
Long term, full time employment or full time subcontracting opportunities.
Varied and rewarding work on historic and traditional buildings.
Opportunities to develop your skills in traditional building repair.
Pay or subcontract rates agreed according to skills, experience and working arrangement.
To apply, please send a brief introduction outlining your experience, the trades you work in, your location and availability. Please include whether you are seeking employment or subcontractor work, along with photographs of previous work if available.
Pay: From £12.71 per hour
Work Location: On the road
