Job Type: Full-time (including some weekends and on-call support as required)

Help Keep Our Beautiful Wedding Venue at Its Best

Highley Manor is an exclusive-use country house wedding venue set within stunning grounds in the heart of West Sussex. Every week we welcome couples, their families and friends to celebrate one of the most important days of their lives.

We are looking for a proactive, practical and reliable Maintenance person to join our team. This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll play an essential part in ensuring our historic venue, guest accommodation and beautiful grounds are maintained to the highest standards, helping create the perfect setting for every wedding and event.

The Role

Working closely with the Venue Management Team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the venue, ensuring it remains safe, welcoming and presented to the exceptional standard our couples expect.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the venue, guest bedrooms and public areas.
  • Undertake general repairs including painting, decorating, carpentry, plumbing and basic electrical work where appropriate.
  • Maintain the appearance and functionality of the venue's interior and exterior spaces.
  • Assist with the upkeep of the grounds, including seasonal maintenance and general tidiness.
  • Carry out routine health and safety checks and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Report and record maintenance issues and complete repairs in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with external contractors where specialist works are required.
  • Support the venue team with event set-ups and ensure all facilities are fully operational before weddings and events.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance issues that may arise during events to minimise disruption.
  • Assist in maintaining maintenance records and ensuring equipment is serviced in line with statutory requirements.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience in a maintenance, facilities or property maintenance role.
  • Is practical, organised and able to turn their hand to a variety of maintenance tasks.
  • Has good knowledge of general building maintenance, including decorating, carpentry, plumbing and basic electrical repairs.
  • Takes pride in maintaining high standards and has excellent attention to detail.
  • Is able to prioritise workloads and work independently using their own initiative.
  • Has a positive, flexible approach and enjoys working as part of a team.
  • Understands the importance of presentation and customer experience within a hospitality environment.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to own vehicle.
