Full job description
Plumbing & Gas Engineer – Primrose Plumbing – London & Surrey
£65,000–£165,000 a year, uncapped · Full-time PAYE · Van and benefits included
Earn like you’re self-employed. Get looked after like you’re employed.
Take pride in your work? Join the Primrose Plumbing team.
Primrose Plumbing provides premium plumbing, heating and drainage services across London and Surrey. We’re looking for experienced Gas Safe registered plumbers and heating engineers who share our commitment to excellent workmanship, professional service and genuine respect for customers and their homes.
We also want to know what you’re working towards. Whether that’s buying your first home, supporting your family, developing your skills or taking on more responsibility, your ambitions matter to us. Our vision is to build a trusted plumbing brand that customers recommend and our people are proud to represent, and we want our engineers to move closer to their own goals along the way.
Be one of our Founding Engineers
Primrose Plumbing is a new company, and you’d be one of our very first engineers. You’ll help set the standards the business is built on, and be first in line as it grows.
In the early days, you’ll cover jobs right across London and Surrey, wherever the work is. In return, as a Founding Engineer you’ll:
- Help shape how we work, from our service standards to the tools we use
- Be first in line for team leader and senior roles as we grow
- Build your own book of loyal customers from day one
Places on the founding team are limited. If you want uncapped earnings, the security of being employed and a real chance to progress as we grow, we’d like to hear from you.
What you could earn
- £65,000 to £165,000 a year, depending on the work you do
- The more you bill, the more you earn per hour, with no cap
- Extra for out-of-hours, emergency and weekend work, on a rota planned in advance
- Bonuses for boilers and installations you sell, on top of your pay for fitting them
- Ways to earn from the same customers year after year
- A guaranteed weekly minimum
- Paid every week, with a statement showing every job
Looking after you
- Private medical insurance
- 24/7 online GP appointments
- Health cash plan towards dental, optical and physio costs
- Life insurance for your family
- Free, confidential counselling and wellbeing support
- Discounted gym membership
- Discounts at supermarkets, high-street shops, restaurants and cinemas
The essentials
- A brand new Primrose Plumbing van, with fuel, ULEZ and insurance covered
- Tools, phone and tablet (£150 joining bonus if you supply your own tools)
- 28 days’ holiday paid at your average earnings, not a basic rate
- 5% employer pension and company sick pay
- Higher rates the longer you stay
- Full onboarding in how we work, and room to take on more responsibility as the business grows
- Head-office support for marketing, enquiries, bookings, invoicing and customer payments
- A digital hub for job information, photos, reports and customer sign-off
What you’ll do
- General plumbing repairs: leaks, taps, toilets and pipework
- Boiler servicing, breakdown diagnosis, repairs and installations, within your qualifications
- Heating-system fault-finding, repairs and maintenance
- Boiler, kitchen and bathroom installations
- Gas safety checks and documentation within your authorised scope
- Explain findings clearly, discuss options and get the customer’s approval before any extra work
- Complete digital job reports with photos, time records, test results and recommendations
- Weekend and out-of-hours cover on a rota issued in advance
What we’re looking for
- Current Gas Safe registration, with a valid ID card and the right work categories
- Current ACS qualifications or a recognised equivalent
- At least five years’ plumbing and heating experience, including at least two years working on your own without supervision (self-employed experience welcome)
- Strong boiler diagnostics: confident finding and fixing faults first time, with no technical support on site
- Relevant plumbing and heating qualifications or a recognised equivalent
- A full UK driving licence
- Clear communication, reliability and a professional approach
- Confidence using a smartphone or tablet for job records
- Willingness to learn, take feedback and contribute to the team
- A plus: unvented hot-water qualifications, underfloor heating experience or drainage skills
The Primrose standard
Our engineers arrive professionally presented, protect customers’ homes, keep a clean and organised van, test their work properly and leave every work area clean.
We value honest recommendations, sound judgement and accountability. You should be comfortable explaining technical issues in plain English and helping customers decide without pressure. If something goes wrong, tell us promptly and help put it right. Quality and safety come first on every job.
We expect high standards, and we believe that works both ways: clear expectations, respectful communication, recognition for good work and real interest in your future.
How to apply
Send your CV with a short introduction covering:
- Your plumbing, heating and boiler diagnostic experience, including how long you’ve worked independently
- Your Gas Safe registration details and current qualifications
- Where you’re based and when you could start
- What you’d like to achieve over the next few years, and why Primrose could be the place to do it
Our process is a short phone call, an interview, qualification and reference checks, and a paid practical assessment. We’ll take time to understand your ambitions and make sure it’s the right fit for both of us.
Earnings are examples based on our pay plan for 40–48 hour weeks, and depend on the work you do.
Pay: £65,000.00-£165,000.00 per year
