This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced plumbing professional who wants to move away from the pressures of traditional reactive plumbing and develop specialist skills within a growing technical sector.

What's on offer?

  • Earning potential of £60,000–£80,000+ per year

  • Full training provided – previous leak detection experience is not essential
  • Specialist equipment provided
  • Professional uniform provided
  • Ongoing technical and operational support
  • Opportunities to develop into additional specialist areas

The Role

As a Leak Detection Engineer, you will use specialist equipment and your existing plumbing knowledge to identify and locate hidden leaks within domestic and commercial properties.

You'll receive full training in the use of specialist leak detection technology, including:

  • Thermal imaging
  • Acoustic detection equipment
  • Tracer gas technology
  • Other non-invasive detection techniques

Your plumbing background will be invaluable when diagnosing the cause of leaks and carrying out repairs where appropriate.

The role is predominantly planned work, with engineers generally completing one appointment per day. This allows you to spend the time required to properly investigate each issue rather than rushing between multiple emergency callouts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate and locate leaks within domestic and commercial properties
  • Work on heating systems, hot and cold water supplies and water mains
  • Use specialist equipment to identify the source of concealed leaks
  • Carry out repairs where appropriate
  • Provide customers with clear explanations and professional advice
  • Complete accurate job reports using a mobile-based reporting system
  • Deliver a high standard of customer service
  • Work independently while having full support from the wider team

There are also opportunities to develop your skillset into areas such as:

  • Roof leak detection
  • Drain investigations
  • Swimming pool leak detection
  • Water main replacement
  • Other specialist investigation work

About You

We are looking for experienced plumbing professionals who enjoy problem solving and working independently.

Essential:

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing (or equivalent)
  • At least 5 years' plumbing experience
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Professional and presentable manner
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Own reliable van
  • Public Liability Insurance
  • Full clean UK driving licence
  • Ability to pass a DBS check

Desirable:

  • Previous leak detection experience
  • Experience in roofing, drainage, building or similar environments
  • Gas, heating or plumbing engineering background

Full Training Provided

You don't need to have worked in leak detection previously.

Full training will be provided on the specialist equipment, techniques and processes required to become a successful Leak Detection Engineer.

You'll have access to the equipment you need, ongoing support and a steady flow of work, allowing you to concentrate on delivering an excellent service to customers.

Why Make the Move?

If you're an experienced plumber who is fed up with constantly rushing from one emergency callout to another, this could be a great opportunity to specialise.

You'll be able to use the plumbing knowledge you've already built while learning a completely new technical skillset, working to scheduled appointments and earning significantly more through a combination of job payments and repair bonuses.
