Head of Plumbing, Gas & Drainage Operations

£55,000–£65,000 per annum (DOE) + Company Vehicle + Genuine Career Progression

Location: Liverpool (covering the North West)

Build Something Bigger.

Most management jobs ask you to maintain what's already there.

We're offering the chance to build the future of an entire department.

Taylored Facilities Management Ltd is one of the North West's fastest-growing independent Facilities Management companies. With over 45 years of trading history and an expanding portfolio of commercial clients, we're looking for an exceptional leader to take ownership of our Plumbing, Gas & Drainage division.

This isn't just another management position.

You'll become part of our senior leadership team, helping shape the direction of the business as we continue our ambitious growth plans.

If you're an experienced Plumbing, Gas or Mechanical Manager who's looking for more responsibility, greater autonomy and the opportunity to genuinely make your mark, we'd love to hear from you.

About Taylored Facilities Management

We're a long-established, family-owned Facilities Management company delivering nationwide maintenance solutions across:

  • Commercial Plumbing
  • Commercial Gas
  • Drainage Services
  • Electrical
  • Mechanical
  • Building Fabric
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance
  • Reactive Maintenance
  • Minor Works & Projects

Unlike many large FM companies, decisions here are made quickly.

You'll work directly with the Managing Director and senior leadership team, where your ideas will genuinely influence the future of the business.

We're proud of our reputation for quality, honesty and looking after both our clients and our people.

The Opportunity

You'll lead our Plumbing, Gas & Drainage division, taking responsibility for both operational performance and future growth.

This is a leadership role for someone who enjoys solving problems, developing engineers, improving systems and building high-performing teams.

You'll oversee a department delivering commercial maintenance and projects across a varied client base, ensuring every job is delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.

Your Responsibilities

You'll have responsibility for:

  • Leading and developing the Plumbing, Gas & Drainage team
  • Managing engineers, supervisors and specialist subcontractors
  • Planning labour and allocating resources efficiently
  • Supporting the Helpdesk with technical advice
  • Surveying works and preparing quotations
  • Managing reactive maintenance and PPM contracts
  • Ensuring works are delivered safely, on time and within budget
  • Building strong relationships with commercial clients
  • Monitoring departmental performance and profitability
  • Identifying opportunities for service improvement and growth
  • Supporting recruitment and mentoring the next generation of engineers
  • Driving continuous improvement across the department

What We're Looking For

We're far more interested in attitude and leadership than someone who simply ticks every qualification box.

You'll probably already have experience as a:

  • Contracts Manager
  • Mechanical Contracts Manager
  • Plumbing Manager
  • Mechanical Supervisor
  • Gas Manager
  • Building Services Manager
  • Operations Manager
  • Senior Commercial Plumber looking for the next step

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous management or supervisory experience
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Excellent technical knowledge
  • Experience pricing remedial works
  • Excellent customer communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Management

If you're the right person but don't hold every qualification, we're happy to invest in your future development.

What You'll Receive

  • £55,000–£65,000 salary depending on experience
  • Company vehicle
  • Company laptop
  • Company mobile phone
  • Performance-related bonus
  • Company pension
  • 28 days holiday including Bank Holidays
  • Ongoing funded training
  • Professional development
  • Genuine progression into senior operational leadership
  • Supportive management team
  • Modern office environment
  • Long-term job security

Why This Role Is Different

We're not looking for someone to simply keep things ticking over.

We're looking for someone who wants to:

✔ Build a department.

✔ Develop people.

✔ Improve systems.

✔ Influence company strategy.

✔ Grow with an ambitious business.

If you're frustrated by corporate red tape or feel your current employer doesn't recognise your ability, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

About You

You're the type of person who:

  • Leads by example.
  • Takes ownership.
  • Builds respect rather than demands it.
  • Enjoys solving problems.
  • Wants to improve everything you touch.
  • Takes pride in developing others.
  • Wants a long-term career rather than just another job.

Ready for Your Next Challenge?

If you're an experienced Plumbing, Gas or Mechanical professional looking to take the next step in your career, we'd love to hear from you.
