What You'll Do

The Global AI Strategy & Portfolio Senior Manager plays a critical role in driving the growth of our BCG X business in AI and Tech for a subset of industries and functions. This role works directly with senior leaders across BCG X and BCG to drive our commercial priorities in AI & digital topics, and help focus our investments on the most critical digital & AI topics that we build & sell to clients.

The Global AI Strategy & Portfolio Senior Manager reports to the Global AI Strategy & Portfolio Director, and works directly with the Global AI nodes of 2-3 Industries & Functions. The role helps to orchestrate the AI agenda across a specific set of priorities that varies depending on the Industry/Function – and will evolve with the market. It requires strong executive stakeholder management, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a strong analytical skillset to generate insightful recommendation to senior leadership – in an area that is changing exponentially in today’s intersection of AI/Agentic, Business, and Tech.

This role offers the opportunity to work on core strategic topics for both BCG & BCG X to support continued growth of the firm in the AI & Tech space. You will have the opportunity to operate at the intersection of strategy, analytics, and commercial decision-making, with significant ownership over insight generation that shapes senior leadership decisions.

Industry/Functional Practice Area AI Strategy & Activation (2-3 Practice Areas)

• Drive the definition of the overall priorities & activation plan for driving the AI business in a subset of practice areas
• Shape the right portfolio of digital & AI offers with senior Sector & Functional Topic leaders across BCG X and BCG
• Activate GTM activities across Sectors/Functional Topics/Regions
• Manage the ongoing management cadence with the AI leadership team
• Facilitate a strong partnership model between BCG X and BCG Industry/Functional Leaders, and sharing best practices across practice areas
• Champion and support the shift toward agentic offers across Industries/Functions
• Programme manage the execution of AI priorities, including ownership of some workstreams, while launching / standardising scalable processes & artifacts
• Strengthen people affiliation and community engagement (e.g., running townhalls)

Offer Investment and Portfolio Management

• Support investment prioritization decisions on AI & Tech to drive focus toward commercial offers with the highest strategic and commercial impact
• Drive deep-dive analyses across portfolio by structuring ambiguous problems, slicing and dicing large data sets, synthesizing insights, and clearly articulating implications and recommendations for decision-making
• Drive alignment across Offer, Topic, and Sector Managers, Product Managers, and Tech Leads around shared portfolio outcomes
• Help identify trade-offs between GTM urgency, product innovation, and technical feasibility
• Support portfolio review forums and escalation pathways: manage logistics, prepare materials, and contribute to discussion

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement

• Champion the adoption of agentic developments to transform our way of working internally with AI & Tech, for example building light touch Claude agents to standardise practice area reporting
• Proactively share best practices to scale proven approaches
• Collaborate with Finance to analyse and report on practice area performance, including profitability of offers;
• Collaborate with the Go-to-Market team to support the right client narratives and marketing materials across the portfolio.
• Work in a highly global and matrixed organization, collaborating across regions, industries, functions, and BCG X teams.

What You'll Bring

Experience & Expertise

• Bachelor’s or master’s Degree or equivalent in business, finance, engineering, or related field
• 6-8 years of relevant professional experience
• Including 3-5+ years of experience in strategy consulting at BCG (or equivalent), ideally as a Senior Associate/Consultant, or as a Lead-level Topic / Sector / Offer Manager (or equivalent)
• Experience working effectively in a global environment with people at all organizational levels

Strategic Thinking & Problem Solving

• Strong experience in strategy development, problem solving, and generalist consulting
• Strong analytical skillset with the ability to work independently with large datasets, build robust analyses, and draw insight-driven conclusions in an ambiguous environment
• Proven ability to develop innovation approaches & processes in an entrepreneurial environment

Strategic Planning & Execution

• Strong experience in strategic planning, execution, and programme management
• Proven ability to be proactive, highly organised and pragmatic – must be able to smartly manage competing priorities, fragmentation, and multiple workstreams on a consistent basis
• Strong PowerPoint, Excel, and presentation skills
• Good tech literacy, including familiarity with leveraging Claude/ChatGPT/Gemini or other Agentic tools day-to-day

Leadership & Interpersonal Skills

• Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment in complex, matrixed, global organizations
• Strong business acumen: able to assess commercial value, build investment cases
• Good judgment and the ability to connect as a trusted peer across all levels - Managing Directors and Partners, consulting staff, and BST colleagues
• Comfortable bringing structure, discipline, and clarity to fast-moving, ambiguous transformation efforts
• Able to manage competing priorities and multiple workstreams without losing focus on strategic outcomes
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to articulate complex trade-offs to senior audiences
• Promotes growth mindset across team and demonstrates resilience under pressure

Good to have

• Experience developing simple agentic tools
• Experience in management of a portfolio of products/AI-powered offers, with growing accountability for investment decisions and performance outcomes
• Knowledge of BCG industry/functional Practice Areas and/or BCG X
