Full job description
This shop has shifts available Saturdays and Sundays all day.
About the role
Our shop volunteers are helping us beat cancer
Our shops raise millions of pounds every year to fund life-saving research, and by giving your time, you’ll be joining a movement of people passionate about beating cancer.
You’ll be welcomed into a friendly, supportive team, where you’ll gain valuable skills, build confidence, and make new friends – all while making a real difference for people affected by cancer.
What you’ll be doing
Volunteering in our shops is varied, flexible and rewarding. You could be:
-
sorting through donated items and pricing stock
-
helping customers and using the till
-
setting up window and shop displays
-
identifying quality donated items
-
taking part in team fundraising activities
The skills you'll need
You don’t need any experience to volunteer, you just need to be motivated, enthusiastic and enjoy being part of a team. We’re looking for people who are:
-
flexible and happy to get stuck in
-
supportive team players
-
enthusiastic about helping to raise vital funds
If you have special skills or interests please talk with the Shop Manager at your taster session about how you can get involved.
Reasonable adjustments
We will happily consider making any reasonable adjustments to support volunteer applications from people with a disability or health condition.
Role requirements
You must be aged 18 or over and living in the UK to volunteer in our shops. If you are aged between 16 and 17 you may still be able to volunteer in our shops, but you must be on a recognised scheme, for example short term work experience organised by your school.
Benefits of shop volunteering
Shop volunteering brings lots of benefits. And most importantly, every day you volunteer you’ll be raising more funds to beat cancer.
Join a fantastic team
Meet like-minded people and get involved in your local community.
Make a difference
By volunteering in our shops you’re helping to power progress for people affected by cancer.
Grow your confidence
Use your existing skills or gain new experience in a retail environment.
How to apply
Our online application form takes 5-10 minutes to complete, and we’ll ask you for a few details so we can complete application and reference checks. We ask all applicants to disclose to us, in confidence, any unspent criminal convictions.
To apply you will need
-
A professional reference
-
An emergency contact
What happens next
Once you’ve submitted your application, we’ll be in touch within a week. You’ll be invited to a taster session where you can meet the team, learn more about the role and decide if it feels right for you.
If you decide you’d like to join the team, we’ll provide a full induction and offer ongoing training opportunities to make sure you’re fully confident in your role.
We can also reimburse reasonable travel and other out-of-pocket expenses, as agreed in advance with your manager.
