Full job description

About Encora Energy

Encora Energy is an independent operator of flexible power generation assets supporting the UK's transition to a low-carbon electricity network. We currently operate over 150MW of gas peaking generation across the UK, with an expanding portfolio of new energy projects currently under development.

As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a motivated and practical Site Technician to join our Operations team based in the Midlands area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, solving problems and taking ownership of site activities while contributing to the UK's evolving energy infrastructure.

The Role

As a Site Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring our generation assets remain safe, compliant and available for operation. You will work independently across several operational sites, whilst also supporting the wider Operations team and specialist contractors.

This role combines technical, practical and administrative responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys variety and taking responsibility for their own workload.

Previous experience within the power generation industry is not essential. We welcome applications from candidates with electrical, mechanical or networking backgrounds, as well as those with transferable technical skills and a positive attitude to learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine inspections of operational generation sites.
  • Act as the site representative for contractors and service providers.
  • Manage and supervise site activities in accordance with company procedures.
  • Ensure all work is undertaken safely using Safe Systems of Work (SSOW).
  • Monitor compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Complete site inspections and maintain accurate operational records.
  • Identify defects, equipment issues and maintenance requirements.
  • Resolve minor faults where possible and escalate larger issues appropriately.
  • Support planned and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Assist with commissioning and operational support of new generating assets.
  • Maintain site housekeeping and ensure PPE standards are consistently followed.
  • Liaise with the Operations Manager and Lead Site Technician to prioritise maintenance activities.
  • Participate in emergency call-outs where required.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is practical, organised and enjoys working independently while being part of a supportive team. Ideally you will have experience in one or more of the following:

  • Electrical maintenance
  • Mechanical maintenance
  • Industrial or commercial facilities
  • Networking or communications systems
  • Plant or equipment maintenance
  • Field service engineering

However, experience in these areas is desirable rather than essential. Training will be provided for the right candidate.

Essential Skills

  • Strong problem-solving ability.
  • Able to manage your own workload and prioritise tasks.
  • Comfortable working alone and as part of a wider team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Good IT skills for recording maintenance activities and reporting.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Experience

  • Safe Systems of Work (SSOW).
  • Permit to Work systems.
  • Health & Safety awareness.
  • PPE compliance and site safety.
  • Electrical, mechanical or networking qualifications.
  • Experience working on industrial or utility sites.
  • Knowledge of power generation or energy infrastructure.

Pay: £33,000.00-£40,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company car
  • Company pension
  • Life insurance
  • Sick pay
  • Work from home

  • Are you located in the Midlands and willing to travel to sites across a broad area within the region?

  • Driving Licence (required)
