Full job description
We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Nurse with at least 3-5 years experience to join our compassionate veterinary team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to animals and supporting our veterinary surgeons. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about animal health and welfare, looking to develop their skills within a professional environment.
We are a small independent practice that invests in high quality equipment, to ensure our patients are cared at the highest standard.
We have great views, a 5 minute walk from a train station, great clients and have a real family feel to our practice, we also love a lunch and learn!
CPD is encouraged, RCVS and VDS payments are covered by us.
This role will be for 4 days a week (days TBC) and best of all no weekends!
Duties
- Assisting veterinary surgeons during consultations, surgeries, and procedures
- Administering medication and vaccinations as prescribed
- Monitoring anaesthetic and post-operative recovery of animals
- Providing pre- and post-operative care to patients
- Maintaining accurate medical records and updating patient files
- Supporting clients with advice on animal health, nutrition, and behaviour
- Ensuring the cleanliness and organisation of the clinical environment
- Handling animals safely and compassionately, including restraint when necessary
- Assisting with laboratory tests, diagnostics, and sample collection
- Managing inventory of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals
- Managing clients Health plans
- Managing Insurance Claim Forms
Skills
- Relevant veterinary nursing qualification
- Previous experience in a veterinary setting
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Compassionate approach towards animals and their owners
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and sole charge in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer literacy for record keeping and communication purposes
