Who We’re Looking For
At Spark Academy, we're on the lookout for dedicated QTS Qualified SEN tutors who are passionate about making a real difference in the lives of disengaged, at-risk, and vulnerable learners. We are looking for qualified SEN teachers who are excited to provide 1:1 tutoring to children and young people with a range of learning needs. This role is ideal for educators who adopt a holistic, creative, adaptable, and trauma-sensitive approach to teaching. Spark aims to improve the educational support for vulnerable young people across the UK. As a tutor with Spark Academy, you'll be part of a supportive team, with SEN Support Specialists available to assist you throughout every placement. About the SEN/SEND Tutor Role
As a SEN/SEND tutor at Spark Academy, you will provide tailored Maths, English, or Science tuition to young people with various needs, including SEND, SEMH, MLD, and SLD. Our students are referred to us by local authorities and schools and require holistic, trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring to support their educational and social-emotional journeys.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and Deliver Engaging Sessions: Plan and deliver engaging, holistic sessions tailored to each student's needs. Lessons will be mostly in-person.
- Tailor Lesson Plans: Take the stress away with access to a pool of pre-planned lessons that you can personalise to fit each student.
- Supportive Learning Environment: Foster a supportive learning environment to enhance both academic and social-emotional development.
- Progress Feedback: Complete lesson reports and provide feedback on student progress.
Requirements:
Must:
- Qualifications: QTS Qualification
- Enhanced DBS: registered on the update service
- Experience: Minimum 1 years experience teaching of British National Curriculum, with a background in working with SEND, SEMH, MLD, and/or SLD students. (Desirable)
- Full UK Driving Licence: Absolute requirement for facilitating in-person sessions.
- Flexible to drive to different locations within Staffordshire
- Location: Must be based in the UK with the right to work in the UK.
- Self-Employed: This is a self-employed position.
- Availability: Available for immediate work during school hours (08:30 - 16:30 Mondays-Fridays)
- Laptop: Applicants must own their own laptop and have access to Microsoft 365 software.
