Job Description
To improve school attendance through the effective working with pupils, families, pastoral support teams and other agencies, analysing data to guide interventions and evaluating their impact.
To assist in managing SEND administration through using the school’s agreed processes for Special Educational Needs.
The role includes 2.5 hours per week of midday assistant duties.
The general duties for this role are to:
- Be responsible for the daily oversight of all attendance, absence and lateness
- Monitor and track attendance across the academy, including identified pupils who are of concern
- Support parents with attendance strategies (this may include home visits to support positive attendance)
- Attend review meetings with the Assistant Headteacher for Behaviour and Attitudes to review whole-school attendance and identify strategies to improve this.
- Carry out parent contract meetings where pupils are persistently absent
- Support pupils with medical needs and other issues which prevent full-time attendance by liaising with staff, parents/carers and other professionals to provide pupils with missed schoolwork.
- Attend relevant meetings regarding the wellbeing of specific pupils
- Cover a lunch duty daily
- Update manual and computerised SEND record/information systems
- Support the SENDCO to update and maintain the SEND school register
- To co-ordinate Children Looked After PEP’s including maintaining appointments, the completion of appropriate paperwork
- To operate and maintain (electronic and hard copies) an effective system for filing of all SEND documents, ensuring that all legal data record requirements are maintained
- To generate SEND information from our school database and other monitoring and assessment systems and procedures.
- To support the production of the Annual Reviews, PEPs, and other statutory paperwork requested by external agencies.
