Full job description

Play Worker
Winchester | 8:50am–3:20pm, Monday to Friday (30 hours per week) | Permanent | Start ASAP or September

Do you love getting stuck into play, being silly, creative, and making children laugh? We’re looking for a fun, energetic and genuinely caring Play Worker to join a wonderful SEN Primary school in Winchester.

This isn’t a role where you’ll spend your day sitting on the sidelines. We’re looking for someone who is happy to jump into the play, build strong relationships, and help children feel safe, happy and understood.

What the role involves

You’ll be supporting young children with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism. Some children may communicate differently, need extra support with emotions, or display challenging behaviour, so patience, warmth and resilience are essential.

Your day might include:

  • Getting involved in messy play, sensory activities, outdoor games and creative learning
  • Helping children develop social skills, communication and confidence
  • Supporting children when they feel overwhelmed and helping them regulate their emotions
  • Working closely with a friendly and supportive team
  • Celebrating the small wins that make a big difference

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is outgoing, playful and full of energy
  • Enjoys engaging with children and joining in their world
  • Is patient, calm and positive, even when things get tricky
  • Has an interest in supporting children with additional needs
  • Can build trusting relationships with young children

Experience working with children, particularly those with SEN or Autism, is helpful, but the right personality and attitude matter most.

The details

  • Location: Winchester
  • Hours: 8:50am – 3:20pm, Monday to Friday
  • Total hours: 30 hours per week
  • Contract: Permanent position
  • Start: ASAP or September

This role is perfect for someone who wants to make a real difference in a child’s early years, while working in a playful, supportive environment where no two days are the same.

If you’re someone who believes learning happens best through play, we’d love to hear from you.

Pay: £85.00-£95.00 per day

  • Free parking
  • On-site parking
