Print Finisher

Kaizen operates across two complementary areas of the business – a fast-paced creative agency and a high-quality print production service. We are looking for an organised, proactive, and experienced Print Finisher to join our production team in Belfast.

The post holder will be responsible for accurately producing work in line with job specifications. You will be required to handle the day-to-day finishing within the department, whilst upholding company quality control practices and ensuring high quality of work is produced.

Your duties involve various tasks, including cutting, folding, binding and laminating. You will ensure precise alignment and consistency in each product, achieving quality control in production. Examples of products you will work on include books, newspapers, magazines, brochures, catalogues, business cards, leaflets, posters and packaging materials.

Duties:

  • Use tools such as paper guillotines, rotary trimmers, cutting mats, precision knives to cut printed materials to precise sizes
  • You will handle paper folders, creasing machines
  • Lamination of printed materials
  • Binding of documents
  • Inspect final products for inconsistencies or flaws and ensure that they meet specification
  • Perform routine checks and basic maintenance to ensure machines operate optimally
  • You will monitor materials used in the finishing process to ensure there are sufficient supplies and organise their replenishment as and when needed.
  • Prepare the final print products for dispatch and use various methods to ensure they reach the end customer in quality condition. This task involves carefully selecting appropriate packaging materials, such as boxes or bubble wrap, depending on the specific product's fragility, transport mode and distance.
  • You will also assist with the flow of work around the finishing department and help keep the working areas clear & tidy to ensure the highest standards of Health and Safety are maintained

The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation of the following items of machinery:

  • Guillotine
  • Laminator
  • Creaser/Perforator
  • Folder
  • Booklet Maker
  • Wire Binder
  • Drill

Primary Objectives

  • Maintain and process work according to the production schedule;
  • Ensure that the work is at a correct specification to job sheet and that the right materials are used for the job;
  • Collect and process work;
  • Laminating various types of media;
  • Ensure all paper work and updates are completed;
  • Notify the manager when an issue is encountered;
  • Problem solve minor issues, to ensure that the work flows smoothly;
  • Maintain the machinery to manufacturers recommendations;
  • Ensure maximum through put and productivity.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Previous print finishing experience is essential
  • Ability to work unaided and as part of a team
  • Must have good hand dexterity
  • Good numerical skill
  • Good attention to detail
  • Practical, hard-working and confident
