Full job description

A high-impact opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR Manager to join the team and play a key role in developing and strengthening the HR function.

Acting as the operational HR lead, you will support the Head of HR in delivering people-focused initiatives that drive business growth and improve the employee experience. Working within a small HR team of four, you will support a workforce of over 200 colleagues.

This is a varied, hands-on generalist role with a strong emphasis on recruitment, as well as employee relations, providing guidance to managers, and contributing to ongoing continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and support two HR Assistants, overseeing recruitment, onboarding, offboarding and core HR administration
  • Manage recruitment for supervisor, management and specialist roles, partnering with hiring managers to secure high-quality talent
  • Coordinate the casual workforce and support wider workforce planning requirements
  • Oversee HR operations across the full employee lifecycle
  • Handle welfare meetings, occupational health, parental leave, flexible working, adjustments, SSP.
  • Provide practical HR advice and guidance Manage employee relations cases including absence, disciplinary, grievance and performance issues
  • Support HR policies, processes and employee engagement initiatives
  • Act as deputy to the Head of HR and escalation point for HR matters

Hours of Work

  • Monday to Friday 40-hours per week, to be discussed at interview
  • Closed Easter Sunday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, 27th December and New Year’s Day

Our Ideal Candidate

  • CIPD qualified preferred but strong work experience also considered.
  • Previous experience within a generalist HR role, preferably within a fast-paced retail or hospitality SME
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Good systems and reporting experience.
  • Strong communicator with a proactive and confident approach.
  • Practical approach – balancing compliance with commercial reality
