The Enforcement Intelligence & Specialist Services Directorate (EISS) sits at the heart of Enforcement & Market Oversight (EMO) and provides strategic and highly specialised central support to EMO and the wider FCA.
The Digital Forensics Unit within EISS provide comprehensive digital evidence services to Enforcement and Market Oversight providing strategic forensic investigative techniques for the acquisition, preservation, recovery, and presentation of digital evidence.
What will you be doing?

Monitoring the performance of the Unit and ensuring adherence to Service Level Agreements and Standard Operating Procedures

Working with the Quality Management Team to ensure the Unit complies with ISO 17025 standards and the Forensic Science Regulator Codes of Practice
-
Line management responsibilities, including being responsible for direct reports' development and appraisals, and ensuring optimal performance by managing any cases of poor performance or conduct in a timely manner

Motivating team members to achieve high standards through empowerment and trust and by fostering an inclusive and open culture

Responsibility for maintaining and developing the Units professional competence, taking account of material research and developments within the relevant field

Providing subject matter expertise on Digital Forensics to internal and external stakeholders and building, maintaining, and owning effective stakeholder relationships with colleagues in other business areas within the FCA and with external bodies

Supporting the Head of Department to develop the strategic direction of the Digital Forensics Unit

Minimum
-
Practical experience of conducting Digital Forensic Investigations in compliance with ISO 17025 standards and the Forensic Science Regulator Codes of Practice
-
Experience of working with digital technologies and the forensic opportunities offered by their examination
-
Experience of line managing a team of Forensic Scientists or Investigators
Essential
-
A transformational leader with a proven track record of delivering excellence in performance, technology innovation and continuous improvement

Significant experience of leading, developing and implementing forensic strategies for serious and complex investigations
-
Experience of managing forensic investigations at scenes, including triaging of devices and of directing the packaging, storing and transport of items of potential evidence
-
A detailed knowledge and understanding of criminal disclosure and the rules regarding evidence gathering and its presentation at court
-
A comprehensive understanding of Legal professional privilege (LPP) and the requirements for handling LPP material
-
Experience in leading change programmes where the interests of stakeholders need to be managed and balanced

Experience of supporting, coaching and developing others
