Southampton, Store Support Office
Role Purpose
As a Fraud Analyst your core purpose will be to develop and interrogate data mining streams to identify internal & external fraud across stores and SSO, whilst managing fraud screening referrals and police requests.
Role Objectives
- Work collaboratively with the rest of the team to use datamining in the most effective way
- Establish an effective network to enable access to new data sources
- Understand the risks to the business and validate with business owners
- Design data mining streams to enable detection of fraud considering all opportunities for fraudulent activity using all available data sources to create credible output
- Considers the changing landscape of the business and how we transact to identify future risks
- Adopt a ‘brainstorm, create, test, streamline’ approach to surfacing fraud detection utilising the whole team
- Seek feedback from the team to hone streams and minimise false positives
- Understand needs of other banners to create consistent approach to fraud detection
- Regularly revisit streams, applying latest thinking to ensure they are fit for purpose
- Work closely with the investigators to understand their needs – workload & training
- Support, where requested, the Kingfisher Group (all banners and Internal Audit) providing data and insight
- Model cross banner working, sharing data and creating best practice
- Escalate weaknesses identified in company process and make recommendations to improve whilst owning the output
- Collaborate with the Crime Centre where external fraud is detected, driving their deployment of Store Detective resource
- Identify business areas requiring increased controls to protect the organisation and its end-users from future incidents of fraud
- Take opportunities to learn from industry experts, developing our risk prevention tools accordingly
- Develop fraud awareness across relevant stakeholders – Asset Protection team, ER, Legal
- Work with Fraud Investigators to develop working knowledge of fraud and to develop their datamining skills where appropriate
- Understand online fraud risks and work with third party providers to mitigate these – managing the balance between customer friction and fraud
- Manage day-to-day online risk orders, liaising with stores, police and the CMC as required
- Experienced user of recognised data mining tools
- Experienced background of Seamless payments, SAP Finance, Dotcom+ and Omni Channel Business
- Experience in regulations covering Payment Card Industry and Data Security Standards
- Technologically proficient in communication protocols and network security controls
- Demonstrable experience working in the role as a fraud data mining analyst
- Analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and interpret complex data streams
- Proficient in IT with experience of MS packages and IBM SPSS
- Knowledge of workings with a retail environment
- Experienced in organisational policy and procedure setting
- Communicating; balances talking and listening in meetings, communicates simply and clearly, confidently challenges, negotiates and influences other decision makers, shares ideas and information with others
