Full job description
The role
As a Tenancy Fraud Investigator, you will be the subject matter expert and technical lead across your area. You will be working across multiple directorates and teams to deliver and engender a strong anti-fraud culture, and to prevent fraud and irregularity to protect Southern Housings assets.
Working closely with the relevant teams across the business, supported the Tenancy Fraud Senior to ensure consistency in approach whilst understanding the local nuances and how they feed into the strategic direction of the service. You will support the Tenancy Fraud Senior to work on solutions to resolve cross functional/regional issues and work together to pilot new ideas.
Principal duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Working in a defined area where demand leads you. And pro-actively investigate tenancy fraud.
- Reviewing internal and external data matching to conduct pro-active risk-based work.
- Being an expert in your subject – to be up to date in the field. Understanding and applying key legislation to investigate tenancy fraud.
- Responsibility for visits to suspects, witnesses, and other organisations (both inside and outside normal working hours) to obtain witness statements in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Justice Act and Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996 /Prevention of Social Housing Fraud Act 2013 where applicable.
- Working collaboratively to raise awareness across the business to identify, assess and mitigate risk of tenancy fraud
Location and Working Pattern
This is a full-time role (35 hours per week) based at either Fleet House in Farringdon or Muriel Matters House in Hastings, with flexible hybrid working and an expectation of around two days per week in the office, agreed with your manager. The role requires regular travel, including property visits, meetings with partners, and attendance at court across the region, as well as providing cover for the Sussex and Kent regions.
What you'll have
- Experience of working effectively in a highly regulated business environment.
- Working toward an Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist (ACFS) and/or equivalent qualification (Desirable)
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and effectively using various communication channels.
- Strong negotiating skills and emotional intelligence, particularly with senior stakeholders.
- Strong decision making ability, taking ownership and responsibility for your area of work.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to spot potential tenancy fraud across all tenure types.
- Meets targets and deadlines, showing persistence and determination when setbacks occur.
- Working collaboratively across teams in all business areas.
- Hold a full driving licence with access to own vehicle (Essential).
