Regulatory Officer (Licensing)
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, confident and highly motivated Officer to join our high-performing regulatory services team. This is a varied and visible role within a forward-looking service that delivers licensing and regulatory functions for Peterborough and supports service delivery for other councils.
Our service has a strong reputation for innovation, partnership working and high-quality regulatory delivery. We are looking for someone who can bring energy, sound judgement and a practical enforcement mindset to help us continue developing a modern, risk-based licensing service.
This post is based in Peterborough, though you will also work closely with colleagues based in Oakham, Rutland. The diverse demographic and geographic nature of the area covered by the service makes it an ideal ground for the professional development of any officer.
The team delivers a proactive, intelligence-led licensing service, working with businesses, residents and partner agencies to promote compliance, tackle risk and support safe, well-regulated communities.
Ideally, you will have experience of administering licensing regimes, applying licensing legislation across multiple disciplines and delivering effective regulatory compliance. You will carry out targeted enforcement across all licence types, undertake inspections and interventions, investigate complaints, gather evidence and provide clear, practical advice to businesses and licence holders.
The service is also developing its commercial and analytical capability, so experience in delivering training, producing reports, using data to identify trends and supporting targeted compliance activity will be an advantage.
For an informal discussion please contact Jonathan.Gritt@peterborough.gov.uk
Provisional date for interview 9th September
