Sussex Medical Chambers is a leading provider of independent healthcare and medical services in East and West Sussex. Overview

We are looking to grow our team with additional Clinic Assistant / Chaperone staff to work within our healthcare services which are delivered in Community Settings. The services range from Community Urology, Community Ultrasound and Community DEXA scanning. The role is vital for safeguarding both patients and healthcare professionals during intimate examinations. The role is to assist with the delivery of SMC services and programmes direct to patients in a community setting. You will be involved in all aspects of the safe, reliable, and timely delivery of these services. You will follow the lead of the Consultant/ Clinician you are working with.

This role would suit a student nurse or a hospital based healthcare assistant or those with similar experience. However, full training will be provided.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensuring high levels of customer service to Patients, Visitors and Medical Professionals.
  • Administration related to and generated by the delivery of this service.
  • Ensuring the services are working in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Attending meetings as directed by the Service Leads and Management Team.
  • Strict adherence to all regulation and legislative requirements.
  • Adherence to Data Protection and Information Governance Guidelines
  • Working closely with Clinicians and Professionals in delivery of the Ultrasound, Urology and DEXA clinics.
  • Collecting materials and equipment from base locations for use in clinics. Monitor, record and be responsible for such materials and equipment.
  • Liaising with Service Leads / Management regarding stock levels/ equipment requirements in clinics.
  • Liaising with site hosts – reception and facilities staff.
  • Receiving patients in reception and escorting to Consultation/ Procedure room.
  • Observing and providing support for patients during their scans or procedures.Assisting Consultant with the patient as directed in scanning, consultations and procedures. and the procedures.
  • Setting and cleaning down the consultation Room/ procedure room.
  • Strictly follow infection control guidelines and training.
  • Setting the room for scanning – preparing appropriate equipment and materials, including PC’s and dictation machines.
  • Ensuring accurate stock control and ordering of supplies.
  • Providing cover for colleagues during periods of leave.
  • Assisting with the design and content of advice materials related to the service.
  • To record the use of equipment/ materials – batch numbers/ serial numbers if applicable.Recording, making notes on procedures undertaken as directed by the Clinician.
  • Ensuring patient consent is achieved and recorded prior to a procedure.
  • Ensuring the patient is safe to travel post procedure.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in similar role preferred but not essential
