Overview
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Ophthalmic Technician to join our dynamic team. In this key role, you will support optometrists and ophthalmologists by carrying out advanced diagnostic procedures, assisting with patient assessments, and maintaining high standards of eye care. Your skills will help improve clinical workflows and enhance the patient experience within a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Duties

· Carry out comprehensive eye examinations and diagnostic tests, including visual acuity assessments, intraocular pressure measurements, and imaging procedures.

· Assist ophthalmologists during SLT, oculoplastic, and YAG procedures, ensuring all equipment is prepared and ready for use.

· Explain eye health, treatment plans, and post-procedure care to patients, supporting understanding and adherence.

· Work with the healthcare team to coordinate patient care pathways and follow-up appointments.

· Manage daily clinic administration, including patient calls, emails, appointment queries, and related follow-up tasks.

· Support the running of the clinic in the absence of the Clinic Manager, ensuring daily operations continue smoothly and efficiently.

· Supervise junior technicians and ophthalmic assistants, manage daily workloads, and support staff training.

Requirements

· Excellent knowledge of eye anatomy and common eye diseases.

· Confident and accurate use of advanced ophthalmic equipment.

· Clear and effective communication with patients, clinicians, and wider team members.

· Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy clinical environment.

· Proactive approach with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
