Full job description

Personal Trainer / Strength & Conditioning Coach

Recover Physio & Wellbeing
Folkestone / with potential for sessional work in Hastings and Deal clinics
Flexible hours | employed or Self-employed percentage-based options

Recover Physio & Wellbeing is looking for a motivated, professional and personable Personal Trainer / Strength & Conditioning Coach to join our growing multi-disciplinary team.

We are a busy private healthcare and rehabilitation clinic working with a wide range of clients, from general fitness and strength goals through to injury rehabilitation, post-operative recovery, return to sport, running performance and long-term health improvement.

This role would suit someone who is confident working with people of different ages and abilities, and who enjoys being part of a clinical environment rather than a standard gym setting.

About the Role

You will work both independently and alongside our team of physiotherapists, osteopaths and other health professionals, supporting patients and clients with progressive exercise, strength training, movement confidence and long-term physical development.

A large part of the role is likely to involve working with people who are moving from physiotherapy or osteopathy into more structured strength, conditioning or fitness-based rehabilitation. This may include people recovering from injury, managing persistent pain, returning to sport, improving general strength, or building confidence with exercise.

You will also have the opportunity to develop your own client base within the clinic, including 1:1 personal training, strength and conditioning sessions, small-group training, and potentially Pilates or rehab-based classes depending on your skill set.

Responsibilities

The role may include:

  • Delivering 1:1 personal training and strength sessions
  • Supporting rehab patients with progressive exercise programmes
  • Working with clients returning from injury, surgery or pain
  • Helping bridge the gap between physiotherapy and full fitness
  • Strength and conditioning for runners, sports people and active adults
  • Supporting clients with movement confidence, mobility and general conditioning
  • Liaising with physiotherapists and osteopaths regarding patient progress
  • Delivering small-group sessions where appropriate
  • Contributing to a positive, professional and supportive clinic environment
  • Keeping clear notes and communicating effectively with the clinical team

We’re Looking For Someone Who Is

  • Qualified as a Personal Trainer, Strength & Conditioning Coach, or equivalent
  • Confident coaching strength-based exercise safely and effectively
  • Comfortable working with a broad range of clients, including rehab patients
  • Professional, reliable and good with people
  • Interested in injury rehabilitation and long-term physical development
  • Able to work independently while also being part of a team
  • Keen to build their own caseload within a busy clinic environment
  • Positive, proactive and willing to develop their skills

Additional Skills That Would Be Advantageous

It would be particularly beneficial if you have experience or additional qualifications in any of the following:

  • Strength and conditioning
  • Olympic lifting or barbell coaching
  • Kettlebell training
  • Powerlifting or resistance training courses
  • Pilates or reformer Pilates
  • Clinical Pilates
  • Exercise referral
  • Pre/post-natal training
  • Running strength and conditioning
  • Return-to-sport rehabilitation
  • Mobility, movement or flexibility coaching
  • Working with pain, injury or post-operative clients

These are not essential, but they would be advantageous.

Why Join Recover Physio & Wellbeing?

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to work in a more professional, health-focused setting than a standard gym.

You will benefit from:

  • Regular internal referrals from physios and osteopaths
  • Access to rehab and performance-focused clients
  • A supportive multi-disciplinary team
  • Flexible working hours
  • Opportunity to build your own diary
  • Freedom to shape your role around your strengths
  • Potential to develop small-group classes or specialist services
  • A clinic environment with an established client base
  • Support with systems, bookings and professional development

Working Pattern

Hours are flexible and can be built around your availability. This could suit someone looking for a few regular clinic hours per week initially, with scope to grow as demand builds.

We are open to discussing daytime, evening or weekend availability depending on the right person.

Pay Structure

This is likely to be a self-employed percentage-based role, with the exact structure discussed depending on experience, qualifications and whether you are bringing your own clients or building through clinic referrals. We can also offer employed options if this is preferred.

The clinic will provide the environment, referral opportunities, systems and support, while giving you the flexibility to develop your own caseload and working pattern.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal person would be someone who enjoys strength training, understands good movement, communicates well, and wants to work closely with clinicians to help people move better, get stronger and return to the activities they enjoy. We would assume the suitable candidate enjoys their own weekly physical training or sport.

This role would suit a PT or S&C coach who wants to become more rehab-focused, or someone already working in rehab/performance who wants to join a growing multi-site clinic.

Pay: £28,000.00-£55,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Free parking
  • On-site gym
  • On-site parking

Experience:

  • specific: 2 years (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • Level 3 personal training or UKSCA? (required)

Work Location: In person
