Start Date: September 1st 2026

About the Role

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and organised Assistant Tutor to support a high-performing Year 11 student undertaking 7 IGCSE subjects through a blend of online schooling and private tuition. The student is also an elite athlete with a demanding training and competition schedule, and as such, requires an adaptive and supportive academic environment.

The tutor will play a key role in overseeing day-to-day learning, ensuring academic focus, and providing structured support during term time. This role requires travel within Central Europe, in line with the family’s schedule, and demands both academic expertise and flexibility to adapt to the student's sporting commitments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the student during online school lessons and private tutoring sessions, ensuring they remain focused and engaged - all lessons attended.
  • Oversee and assist in the organisation of lesson materials and resources (digital and/or printed), ensuring work is well-documented and accessible.
  • Encourage independent learning, ensuring the student uses appropriate learning strategies and avoids over-reliance on AI tools.
  • Ensure all homework, classwork, and revision activities are completed on time and to a high standard, liaising with subject tutors where necessary.
  • Track academic progress, reviewing feedback from subject teachers and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Work with the student to create revision timetables, topic checklists, and exam preparation plans for internal and public assessments.
  • Provide weekly academic feedback to the student’s parents and/or the family’s education consultant.
  • Demonstrate good judgement and initiative in supporting the student, while building a positive and respectful working relationship.

Candidate Profile

Essential:

  • An EU Passport
  • Current DBS or equivalent
  • A strong understanding of the UK secondary education system, particularly at IGCSE level.
  • Educated to degree level or higher.
  • Proven experience in teaching, tutoring, or academic mentoring.
  • Ability to maintain structure, focus and motivation in a young learner.
  • High standards of organisation, discretion and integrity.
  • Flexible, dependable, and adaptable to a variable daily schedule.
  • A warm and engaging personality, able to balance firm guidance with supportive companionship.
  • Clean driving License

Please note we will only consider female candidates for this role due to safeguarding reasons as per the family’s request.

Desirable:

  • A teaching qualification in a core academic subject ( Maths and / or Sciences preferable).
  • Experience working with high-achieving or dual-career (academic/athletic) students.

Contract and Compensation

  • Term Time Only (aligned with UK Independent School calendar).
  • Daily rate of £150.
  • All travel, food, and accommodation expenses covered when travelling with the family.
  • Unpaid during school holidays, though paid work during half terms may be requested by the family.
  • Long breaks at Christmas (3 weeks), Easter (3 weeks), and Summer (9 weeks) when the role is inactive.

How to Apply

To express your interest in this role, please submit a CV and a brief cover letter highlighting your relevant experience, teaching background, two referees and availability.

Interviews will take place online initially. You will then need to be available for an in person interview with the director of the agency and if successful, for an interview with the family in Europe - expenses paid.

Closing date for all applications is Friday 26th July 2026 at 3pm.
