- Support participants' learning needs, adapting training styles to suit diverse professional backgrounds.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding laws and policies, including the Children Act 1989 & 2004, Care Act 2014, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018, Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2023, GDPR, and other relevant legislation.
- Model professional behaviour, safeguarding values, and ethical practice in all interactions.
- Identify safeguarding concerns raised during training and escalate appropriately to Phoenix Training’s Director and local safeguarding authorities when required.
- Maintain professionalism and integrity in all training engagements, ensuring content is delivered as designed by Phoenix Training and Consultancy Ltd.
Essential Criteria
- Extensive experience in safeguarding and child/adult protection within social care, education, health, or criminal justice sectors.
- Strong knowledge of UK safeguarding legislation and policies, including statutory frameworks, thresholds, multi-agency working, and professional responsibilities.
- Experience delivering training or facilitating learning in a professional setting.
- Commitment to trauma-informed and person-centred practice in safeguarding work.
- Ability to engage diverse groups of professionals, ensuring training is interactive, reflective, and practically relevant.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with confidence in both in-person and online delivery.
- Ability to handle sensitive discussions professionally, ensuring a safe learning environment.
- Self-motivated and reliable, with strong time management skills.
Desirable Criteria
- A teaching, training, or coaching qualification (e.g., PTLLS, DTLLS, Level 3 Award in Education & Training).
- Previous experience delivering Level 1, 2 or 3 safeguarding training to professionals.
- Background in social work, safeguarding leads, police, probation, or health and social care management.
- Understanding of complex safeguarding risks such as exploitation, domestic abuse, FGM, and contextual safeguarding.
Additional Requirements
- Current Enhanced DBS certificate.
- Professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
- Access to own laptop and stable internet connection for online training.
- Commitment to upholding Phoenix Training’s values, including trauma-informed, person-centred training delivery.
- Compliance with all Phoenix Training and Consultancy Ltd policies, including GDPR, safeguarding, health and safety, and equality policies.

- Self-employed associate role – no mutuality of obligation.
- Fees paid per session, agreed in advance per training contract.
- Trainers must invoice Phoenix Training and Consultancy Ltd upon completion of training.
- 40p per mile for pre-agreed travel and overnight accommodation covered where required (receipts required).
