Full job description

Shape the future of procurement at one of the UK's leading health and social care charities.

At Jewish Care, every purchase has a purpose.

As the largest health and social care charity serving the Jewish community in London and the South East, we support over 12,000 people every week through our care homes, community centres, mental health services, social work, retirement living and family support services.

We're looking for an experienced and commercially astute Senior Manager – Procurement to establish and lead a newly created procurement function that will play a pivotal role in delivering value, strengthening governance and supporting the high-quality care our communities rely on.

This is a rare opportunity to build a strategic procurement service from the ground up while making a genuine difference to people's lives.

What you'll be doing

Reporting to the Commercial Director, you'll lead the development and delivery of Jewish Care's procurement strategy, ensuring procurement becomes a trusted strategic partner across the organisation.

You'll:

  • Develop and implement our three-year procurement strategy aligned to organisational priorities.
  • Lead strategic sourcing and category management across both operational and capital expenditure.
  • Drive commercial value, measurable savings and continuous improvement across all areas of spend.
  • Build strong supplier partnerships while ensuring robust contract management and performance monitoring.
  • Develop procurement policies, governance frameworks and controls that support compliance and reduce organisational risk.
  • Use data, market insight and supplier intelligence to inform sourcing decisions and improve commercial outcomes.
  • Lead and develop a specialist procurement team, creating a high-performing, customer-focused culture.
  • Partner with senior leaders across the organisation to strengthen procurement capability and embed best practice.

About you

You'll be an experienced procurement leader who combines strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to delivering results.

You'll bring:

  • MCIPS qualification (essential).
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience.
  • Significant senior procurement experience across a broad range of direct and indirect spend categories.
  • A proven track record of delivering measurable commercial savings and value.
  • Experience leading strategic sourcing, category management and supplier relationship programmes.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement governance, contract management and risk management.
  • Excellent commercial judgement, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders and executive leadership teams.
  • The ability to build relationships, lead change and inspire confidence across a complex organisation.

Experience within healthcare, social care, hospitality or another service-led environment would be advantageous.

Why join Jewish Care?

This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact in an organisation where commercial decisions directly support the delivery of exceptional care and community services.

You'll be joining a collaborative leadership team committed to innovation, continuous improvement and delivering the very best outcomes for the people we support.

In return, we offer a rewarding career alongside a competitive benefits package, including:

  • 20 days annual leave (plus Bank Holidays), increasing with length of service.
  • Employer pension contribution.
  • Life Assurance.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Blue Light Card and retail discounts.
  • Excellent learning and development opportunities.
  • The opportunity to shape a newly established procurement function within a respected and values-led organisation.

Ready to make a difference?

If you're an experienced procurement leader who is passionate about delivering commercial excellence while supporting a meaningful cause, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today and help us build a procurement function that delivers lasting value for our organisation, our colleagues and the communities we serve.
